Build a cozy little city on top of a brutally honest economy. Every citizen is simulated, one by one: they work, pay rent, get sick, go broke and turn to crime. Set taxes and policy, win elections, and survive a newspaper that blames you for everything.

Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.29/day in the week to Jul 24 → 1/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
Microlandia is a city builder that combines a cute, classic look with a deep socioeconomic simulation under the hood, modeled after real-world research and statistics.
Plan a city where people will live and work. Lay down roads and a bus network. Build housing, businesses and public works of many types, each with its own functions, upsides and tradeoffs.
All residents of your city are simulated one by one. No fake crowds, no statistical approximations. Each one holds a job at a real company, pays rent to a greedy landlord, and can get sick and need a hospital with real staffing and capacity. If they go broke and jobless for long enough, they consider a career in the criminal underworld. None of this is random: it is all side effects of your choices as mayor.
You set the rates for income, sales and corporate taxes. You can charge for business licenses, bus fares, parking and more. Raise them too high and the cost of living becomes unbearable. Lower them too far and you won't collect enough. Every decision matters and shapes your economy. And watch your approval rating: citizens vote, and you lose the game when they elect another mayor.
A newspaper covers everything that happens in your city. Crime reports with real addresses. Exact figures. Every story emerges from what's actually happening in your city, and you will be blamed for all the bad news. Every five years, a random incident tests your planning: heatwaves, recessions, droughts and more.
We're making the most advanced socioeconomic simulation in the history of city builders. That's why we model it on research and data from sources like the World Bank, the OECD and the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. The challenges you face exist in (and teach us about) real life. All the simulation's parameters and their sources are published on our website.
Every citizen, household and company is simulated one by one. No fake crowds, no statistical approximations.
Set income, sales and corporate taxes, plus fees and licenses, then live with the economy you create.
Win or lose elections: your approval rating is the only win condition.
A newspaper that covers your city and pins the bad news on you.
Random incidents that test your plans: heatwaves, recessions, droughts and more.
The game is under active development and we have ambitious plans for years to come. There will never be DLC or a Microlandia 2. We'll keep updating and improving the base game. And there will never be in-game purchases either, because we think they're the worst invention since pineapple on pizza.
Wishlist Microlandia and follow us on Steam to hear about every update.

So here I am after 6 hours of actively playing this game in one sitting and I must say BUY THIS GAME IF YOU WANT TO SCRATCH THAT CITY BUILDING ITCH!! yeah that simple to be honest but here is the details for whoever wants to read. 1- the game is dirt cheap especially on sale so it is the perfect price for a game to spend the weekend over and scratch an itch without giving away your entire life savings to the gaming overlords. 2- it is a decent city builder with just enough depth to keep you engaged without being too stressful or break the coziness of the game speaking of which this game is pretty chill and cozy also the artstyle they choose I believe helps with that too. 3- the game does have some new mechanics that are worth trying even if you are a veteran in the genre for example as the mayor you get to pass policies that effect your earnings and the happiness of the people which you need to take care of if you want to be reelected again as mayor and yes this game has a voting system which rewards you with gifts whenever you are reelected, so you can be a corrupt evil piece of dodo and raise your taxes or you can pass a law to pay off the elders in the community, it is all up to your humanity I guess. 4- the game gets updated very frequently and the developer seems to be quite active. 5- I found the newslatter funny and the art in it I think is quite cool so I hope the newslatter keep on improving. now here is a few things I would like to be improved/introduced pretty please with a cherry on top: 1- More building models because after a certain point you will have rows of very similar looking buildings so not necessarily new buildings per se rather just new models for the existing stuff just like how there is different tree models. 2- the gift buildings are very cool so I wish we can have a shop where we can buy said buildings for steep pricing if our city is doing well enough to afford it. 3- more ways to affect your population like for example at the end of my run I noticed that my elderly population has been increasing steadly but I dont think I have any way to increase the birth rate in my city other than to wait for a random event so I hope for ways or new policies that allow me to control the population in the city more. 4- a counter for how many tourists the city gets so you can have an idea of how many people are actively visiting your city and more ways to affect the tourist count and maybe a way to make it your main way of income for example like getting to choose if you want to build a city that depends on businesses or a touristic place. 5- an option for an automatic day and night cycle, I know you can change it in the settings but then you are stuck with one view but I think an automatic cycle would be cool whenever you just want to watch over the city, also more lights can be added to building models to make it cooler at night or an option to add bill board ads on large enough building or on the side of the road with for example a mechanic where you get a small steady income for the amount of ads you have over the city.

This is not a game. It's a brutal economy simulator with no tutorial whatsoever. The developer seems to have cared far more about his own enjoyment while making it than about creating a fun experience for the people who paid for it.
Got a ransomware asking for most of my cash in the first hour of play. Can't prevent it or anything just give up most of your money when i barely got started. I'm sorry but this a terrible introduction to your game. I don't understand whats the point of if thats supposed to be fun? I'm going to refund
Let's you play blackjack with government funds at the casino. 10/10
Massively improved throughout its development, scratches the SimCity 2/3000 nostalgia itch, looking forward to what these devs do next
I'm not into this type of games but this has me hooked for hours, and I know it will keep me busy for a lot more. So addicting, once you understand the system and game mechanics, it's pure relax. Plan your city however you want, just make it make sense. Very satisfied with this game and I'm looking forward to more updates!
Yes it's a good and original game BUT I had to play and leave the computer running for half a day JUST to unlock the river map and that's really treating users like kids. Devs, please don't make me waste my time, thank you.
I'm pretty early in this game, having essentially completed the first level. On the pros, I love how data-driven the game is. There's something refreshing about the way the approval and budget mechanics work that other city builders don't have. The art style and '90s aesthetic of everything is perfect, and the humor is spot-on. On the cons, I think the tutorial ends way too soon, and even with a fantastic developer-provided documentation website, there are some aspects of the game that feel a little confusing at first. All the different buildings are different in ways that are not immediately apparent. The progression of what kinds of things you'll unlock is relatively unclear (I see things in screenshots that I don't have access to right now nor do I see any indication that new things will unlock, it just sort of happens). I also just think that the sensibly small scope of the game compared to complex city painting-oriented city builders like the Cities Skylines series limits how interesting and replayable this game seems to be. Overall, I struggle to see this being a seriously engaging city builder that I keep coming back to, but it's appropriately priced and I couldn't possibly give it a thumbs down. It's worth having experienced a time or two at the very least and it costs less than a latte at Starbucks.
