Mexico, 1921. A Deep Slumber.

Si eres una persona que le apasiona el arte, la historia, el periodismo y más, éste juego es para ti. En "México 1921 A Deep Slumber" encontrarás una ventana al pasado de México, pero, curiosamente una ventana a la realidad de hoy en día. Es un juego que lo probé deseando sólo saber un poco más de la historia de mi país y termine con un mix de emociones como miedo, esperanza, tristeza, impotencia, felicidad y tranquilidad. Definitivamente hay aspectos que pueden mejorar técnicamente para disfrutar un poco más la historia que nos quiere contar este juego, sin embargo ninguno de ellos te impedirá disfrutar de él.

This game is amazing, I've been so deep in hearing every conversation and reading every piece of paper that I felt like time in real life disappeared for a while. The art is awesome, I love the environments and how immersive each place is, the narrative has an incredibly well-studied approach which makes every little detail very interesting to take the time to see, the music is very well set for the ambience of the game and in general the look and feel of it all gives me this feeling of great satisfaction when playing. The true and noticeable interest and care the devs placed in this game is very unique, congratulations to everyone involved.

I really wanted to like Mexico, 1921. A Deep Slumber. as it’s fascinating to learn more about local histories from the point of view of the people whom it affected most. However, due to the aforementioned bugs, I was out of luck. The game until then seemed solid enough, if a bit janky. At its current price point of £16.75, I cannot recommend getting this game if there is a risk it simply won’t work. I wholeheartedly hope this is something unique to me and not a general bug, so if you find it on sale and don’t mind the risk, I do think it’s worth a look if you’re interested in history. Es un excelente juego que esta basado al rededor del asesinato de Obregon. Lo que me gustó del juego fue el enseñar ese contexto histórico, ideológico y las diferentes problematicas que existían en la época. La reflexión del final del juego me encantó, pues se podría aplicar a la situación actual del país. Lo que me hubiera gustado que estuviera dentro del juego es que fueran las estructuras un poco más apegadas a las de la vida real o que existiera un modo libre dónde se señalará cómo era cada edificio, quizá poniendo fotografías y el contexto histórico de las mismas, considero que el programa del Foco del Maestro Héctor de Mauleón hubiera podido apoyar con esa parte, dónde se explicará que es cada edificio y que existía. Malo: algunos bugs y algunos logros que no se desbloquean, pero realmente estaba más curioso el tipo de juego que sería. Finalmente el final quedo abierto y creo que también hubiera sido interesante que pusieran cual fue la versión oficial del asesinato. Sin embargo, es un excelente juego me sorprendió la calidad del mismo tanto histórico como narrativo, es la historia viva de como debería ser contada sin colorearla y no solo fotos, dibujos de personas que quieren hacer pasar como perfectas.

Una excelente historia sobre un período de mi país que, al menos yo, no conocía tanto. Tiene errores, algunos difíciles de ignorar, pero espero que en el futuro haya más productos como este, y de mejor calidad, por parte de este grupo en el futuro.

Shame. I was really getting into this game. The art style was growing on me. Especially at the festival, the sky is absolutely beautiful and the story is intriguing. The world feels alive. The game boasts a number of interesting mechanics, a camera and a nosey mode where you can listen in on conversations. However, I ran into a game breaking bug where I couldn't enter nosey mode during the festival. Reloading the game didn't work, I ran into it again. I tried reloading a third time, then I went into the steam discussions and researched the wider internet to see if I could find a solution. Apparently this bug has been around awhile, people were talking about it in December 2024 and the devs have done nothing to fix it. So as much as I was enjoying their game, I unfortunately can't play it. So ultimately, this gets a thumbs down. Big disappointment. Editing my review, because I did end up finishing this. You have to not talk to the person you're supposed to talk to to successfully pass the part I mentioned above. I did not run into any more serious bugs throughout the rest of the game and I found the story fascinating and delightful. So this ultimately gets a thumbs up from me. But buyers beware. The game is buggy.

This game is a triumph. It has some technical issues and could use some polish, but it's brilliant at what it does: to be a video game documentary of the political struggles in 1920s Mexico. It starts a bit slow and confusing, but it's so full of style, emotion & passion... by the end, I was moved. If you're interested, it's a 3-4h adventure game. There's audio & subtitles in Spanish and English (but do play with Spanish voices, they're great). Knowing some Mexican history helps, but you play as a someone slowly uncovering what is going on and documenting this era, so you'll be introduced to everything.
