Manufactoria 2022 is a constructive puzzle game about pushing robots around. (It's okay, they don't complain.) Use simple parts to engineer solutions to open-ended problems, then rebuild 'em better! Take a company from your backyard to the soaring heights of success! How hard could it be?

In this game you move robots around the grid with conveyor belts. Each robot has a tape, contains a queue of stamp symbols, where the stamp at the front of the queue can be popped off and branched off to different paths with a scanner. The goal is to make an assembly line to send the robot either to the accepted chute or the incinerator, based on the task given in each level. I played the original flash game, which was already a masterpiece of a puzzle game in its own right. This one has much better graphics and a few new interesting mechanics. Each level now has 3 medals, obtained by getting a certain runtime, rectangular area, and number of scanners and stampers of the assembly line. Sometimes full medal completion requires you to make separate solutions that that optimize one attribute over the others. The game has a cozy vibe, but don't let that fool you. Some of these levels are quite challenging, but solving them is what makes this fun. If you like logical problem solving and programming, this game is the game for you.
Manufactoria 2022 is a remake of a classic Flash puzzle game that builds on the original without sacrificing the original spirit. If you like the "Zach-like" genre of puzzle games, if you like Turing machines*, if you like optimizing grid layouts, you will love Manufactoria. The gameplay is based on assembling machines to perform various tasks by placing parts in a grid. * Technically, the game is clearly inspired by "queue automata", which are Turing-complete, but not Turing machines. The major positives are: * Large number of levels (105) in a good difficulty progression * The challenge is based on assembling a large number of parts, but only a small number of types of parts. Some games in this genre are constantly introducing new types of parts. This game definitely is not, instead the playability is based on flexibly combining a few types of parts. * Most levels are incredibly open-ended (the task can be solved many truly different ways), except for a few basic introductory levels. * There is a good editing UI, allowing you to take portions of your grid and copy, paste, rotate, etc. * If you like optimizing solutions in this type of game, Manufactoria will provide hours and hours of entertainment beyond solving the levels, as 90+ of the levels each have "gold medals" available on 3 different criteria. The main negative would be if you don't like this genre.

A strip of paper with a series of symbols printed on it. A conveyor belt which branches by consuming the symbol at the start and machines which can print symbols at the end. For each puzzle you know the nature of the symbols which might be fed in, like 0 to 10 red and blues, or 0 to 10 groups of blues terminated by reds, or perhaps zero of more reds and blues on each side separated by a one and always one yellow. Now you must build a conveyor which either processes these strips to a specific output like removing all blues before reds, or to validate the strip matches certain criteria like no double blues. Only one robot passes through at a time. The meaning of the symbols vary, and it can get complicated such as determining if the turns and moves recorded on the strip mean you have returned to the start. Do it right then do it simpler, smaller, faster. If you like these kind of puzzles then buy this game. I find this specific style of puzzle to have limited appeal, but am satisfied overall.
An extremely well-polished "Zachlike" puzzler that's razor sharp. I'm thoroughly stumped only halfway through! Effortless debugging, saves that keep your best work, and just overall a very smooth interface. Each bot has a little Turing machine tape, and your factory's job is to implement the program for that level. Many solutions are satisfyingly simple, requiring some lateral thinking to rephrase the question in a better form. That keeps you thinking through the day! The Demo will get you hooked if it's going to! And all carries over, too!
Simply a beautiful mind maze ... yummy!
Delightful engineering puzzles that inspire optimization mania in the best Zachlike manner. You complete a machine with what seems like a clean intended solution, then double-take when the histograms show you a lot of people know something you don't. Then you bang your head against what seems like the impossible until that aha moment, and you have a new technique for your toolkit. I only wish it allowed coloring or labeling parts of a machine.
My brain hurts. 10/10
Super fun game
Just as enjoyable as the old flash game this was based on.
