[h3] The game failed to surprise or captivate. It was uninteresting.
I highly recommend this game if you want to: * Spend hours tracking down hidden nutrient caches and license plates across Port Clovis. * Mix and match Bioelectric, Shadow, and Bone evolutions to turn your apex predator into an absolute tank. * Fight rogue Orcas and mutated super-predators in secret government naval complexes. * Listen to an incredibly narcissistic narrator make endless pop-culture references while you rip apart a bounty hunter. In all seriousness, the base game is a solid 8-hour ride of pure arcade fun. While the base drop rate and mission variety can feel repetitive later on, the actual progression loop feels highly rewarding. If you buy it, make sure to get the Truth Quest expansion too—the shift from a nature show to a government conspiracy theory makes the late-game scaling hilarious. Totally worth the price!
very fun achievements
3/10 Crashed more times than I could count. People keep defending the game by saying the crashes and stuttering are caused by your system, but I tested it on two completely different PCs and had the same problems on both. I managed to finish the main game, but the DLC is where it became especially frustrating. It has time trials, and whenever the game stutters, the camera can suddenly turn in a random direction. That makes timed challenges unnecessarily annoying. The game itself is actually fun. Swimming around as a shark and causing chaos is enjoyable, which makes the poor PC port even more disappointing. I would not recommend buying this on PC, even on sale. If you really want to play this fun shark game, get it on console instead. The PC version is riddled with compatibility, stuttering, and crashing problems. Some people blame Denuvo. Others blame your hardware. After seeing the same issues on two different systems, my conclusion is simpler: the PC port is just bad. Not worth it. Update after fully finishing the game: Now that I have completely finished the game, I would say it is decent as a short playthrough. It does get repetitive, and a lot of content feels either cut or unfinished. It is a missed opportunity because there is so much more they could have done with the concept. There really is not much depth to the gameplay, but as something you can play while switching your brain off, it works well enough. The biggest problem is still the PC port. Even after limiting the game to 60 FPS, disabling all overlays, and using Lossless Scaling to get the output back up to 120 FPS, I still had small stutters underwater, sometimes really heavy stuttering while on land, and several more crashes before finishing the game. So my opinion of the game itself improved slightly after finishing it, but my opinion of the PC version did not. The game can be fun, but the technical problems make the PC port very difficult to recommend.
