Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Aug 5 → 0/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
Tactical retrofuturistic strategy game. A computer virus has infiltrated the "Stargazer" research complex. Most of the robotic units are controlled by the virus. Lead a squad of 4 prototypes on a mission to defend complex mainframe. You'll have to repel assaults, destroy unit fabricators, download valuable data, clear infected nodes, and do more on your way to the deepest parts of the complex. Work with item limitations and drawbacks to build powerful combinations. Destroy your enemies with diverse tactics: overheat them, melt with corrosion, absorb damage, and return fire. But don't rely on a single strategy too much - enemies might have a way to counter it. But above everything else: defend the Mainframe!

* RETRO STYLE: Graphics, inspired by 80s terminal PC with hybrid synthwave soundtrack.
* DIVERSE TACTICS: Cook enemy robots to death, bury them under your bullets, eliminate with a single powerful shot, or render your opponents useless with debuffs - this game is designed with a lot of viable strategies in mind.
* BUILD YOUR SQUAD: Similar to how in card games you have to build your deck, in Mainframe Defenders you have to combine different items with unique abilities, to create an unstoppable squad. Work with item drawbacks or double down on them, creating flawed, yet powerful build!
* UNIQUE ENEMIES: Enemy squad won't sit idle, though. Each unit has its own role in the squad and designed to counter certain strategies. Pick your targets wisely, or you will lose.
* PROCEDURAL LEVELS: Hand-made rooms are combined with procedural generation to create random levels. Missions have differing objectives, combined with unique mission conditions. Will you accept the challenge or avoid the unknown and risk falling behind?
* PROGRESSION SYSTEM: Victory or defeat, the game is not over yet! Unlock new units, each with a unique set of upgrades and load-outs. Unlock new items to bolster your new strategies.

Where is the option to hyperspeed enemy turns? Oh my GOD it's so boring waiting for the 15 enemy units to take their turns one by one. Literally cannot bring myself to play this game any more because of how slow it is.
Niche game. It is a little overwhelming at the start, but it can be ease into it.
This game caused me to learn to really appreciate games of its kind. I never appreciated the turn based strategy games before this one. I like RTS and turn based RPG very much. Never turn based strategy before. I am a fan of traditional roguelikes though. This game really caught my attention. It causes me to miss sitting at my computer. I have not experienced this because of a game in more than a decade. I recommend this game to you. It is tremendous fun also wish to thank the developers. I really enjoy this game.

8/10
TL;DR
Great challenging roguelite tactical game, that constantly builds time pressure and risks due to spawning enemies or stacking debuffs. The enemy variety is sufficient and requires a diversely build squad to counter all the different strengths of the enemies. Sadly the RNG of mission rewards and craftable items can screw a few of your runs. Furthermore some QoL features are missing. --------------------------------
Pros:

Overall look and feel

Soundtracks are banger
Visuals are simplistic but pleasing to the eyes
Good squad interface

Gameplay

Challenging
Simple but great combat
Good diversity of runs due to a vast amount of items and different characters(/mechs)
There is a decent strategical balance between time pressure and safe approach. Depending on the difficulty new enemies spawn in frequently until you destroy spawner or complete the main mission. This works actually incredibly well for this game and speeds up the runs while creating risks
Different difficulty require different builds
Certain items only work in synergy with others or with certain characters
Good selection of enemies with different attributes and debuffs that they apply require a diverse squad on harder difficulty

QoL

Animation skip is a thing. You don't have to wait until your unit is on the destination tile to be able to insert an attack command or end your turn
--------------------------------
Cons:

Gameplay

The ability to reroll missions and/or craftable items once or twice per run would be great to counter bad RNG
It get's somewhat old after ~15h but is still fun for a few runs per day
Some items seem to be fairly weak and I couldn't see any synergies with other items or perks to make them work

Story and world building

Barely any story. There is a total of approximately 10 emails/articles that you unlock with each successful run

Bugs + missing QoL

Missing QoL

The viewport doesn't jump towards enemies upon their turn
Can't jump to the currently selected own unit but have to pan around manually
No keybind to select next unit
Confirm movement is the same button as selecting a unit. Therefore you better always deselect with RMB before you select another unit
Can't unfold or scroll in the event/activity log. This way you can only see the last 5-10 events, which isn't even 1/4 of a turn late game
The health and heat bars of your units don't flash to signal changes in their state
No ability to speed up the enemies turn
Can't zoom
No minimap

Better tutorial and tool tips would be nice, because it takes time to understand:

How exactly the squad should be equipped
That craftable items rotate after each mission
What certain effects do

Overlay bugs appear quite frequently but are easily fixed in most cases
Every now and then the map remains black but is fixed by backing out
While the music is full of banger, a few more songs would be appreciated
This game feels like it has everything
Liberty
There is a dread that comes along with the complete liberty this game provides. You don't get any instruction, just cogs and gears and missions to work through. It feels as though this is what this sort of game is meant to be. The zenith of the medium.
No one has beaten this game
The pitfall comes in the game's vast difficulty. As of now, the achievement for completing the game on any difficulty has only been achieved by 4.5% of players. You have to want to complete it. There is a beginners grue where you are lost and stumbling and watching your mechanoids get blown to pieces and you want to quit. 95.5% of people did, but what a joy I found finally being able to wrap my head around this game enough to beat it on Normal. Given that it is a turn based combat game, it can be a very relaxed experience. The intensity comes not in the rapidness of it, but in your own inability to wait to see what happens next. Your own desire to rush through turns makes it intense. You strive to command just well enough to slide by.
I love the graphics and how this game feels
The graphics feel sheen in a wonderful, immersive way. Like all of the best GUI aspects of cruelty squad. Every menu feels awesome and purposeful, and I only wish there was a little more world building to read through. Other games (cruelty squad) let you read about weapons, missions, characters. Mainframe Defenders just provides an extensive pool of items with interesting names and portraits, and it's still really cool. Maybe the lack of information plays into the graphics and lets your imagination dream a little bigger while you play. I tend to wonder quite a bit about the over arching scenario. Are we in space? Jumping between ships and asteroids, obeying some morally ambiguous archotech superintelligence. Fighting off some vague mechanoid infection spreading through, station to station, on an unknown scale. a lot to think about and it just feels right for me, like a cathode ray tube.
