This is one of those games I wouldn't necessarily recommend or dislike.
I love the concept of the game - it feels like a LEGO Grand Theft Auto, but playing as a police officer. I love how they did character swaps and I love the open world. The story is good as well, with a nice pacing to it and nice build up. There isn't nostalgia bait on anything, because you don't know anyone in LEGO City. Nice character relief, and the humor of some characters is well done. There are a lot of positives to this game and that's why I'm more inclined to recommend it.
What I don't like are just all the tedious tasks. I'm trying to 100% it, and I keep finding random tasks that I need to do 20 of, like oh you destroyed a hidden brick, do that 20 more times in the open world. There's a lot of repetition, which is normal for a LEGO game I find, but there could be some Quality of Life improvements to not make it so... brutal. Fast travel to the islands or changing stations would be amazing. Oh, the extras don't stay enabled for some reason. Like, 10 of them do consistently, but every time it crashes, I have to re-enable the rest of them. It's just tedious.
The other thing I don't like is that the game keeps crashing at random intervals. I played most of it on the Steam Deck, but there are sections that don't load at all, so I'm trying it on PC to see if it does anything.
Lastly, they have what is essentially two currencies - blocks and studs - where one is used to purchase characters while the the other is used to build stuff. Having the blocks just voids out the studs as a currency. Before completing the main story, I felt like I was bottle-necked by blocks while free running. Meanwhile, characters (which, they characters are just random people, not even IRL famous people, I just have no interest in. Kind of useless to have, in my opinion) are small purchases and getting to 1 million studs is super easy. And you don't need to buy the red power bricks either, so studs are just useless.
Ignoring my issues against the game, the humor is spot on with their quips. I feel like, because of the humor type, this is meant for 20 year olds, because there are jokes that younger kids wouldn't get. Like, "oh my insurance is going to skyrocket" after hitting a car. Overall, I'd recommend this game but maybe on a slight sale or something, because of the negatives? It's good.
