Lab Rat is a hand-crafted narrative puzzler masquerading as a machine-generated video game. This satirical adventure stars a metrics-obsessed AI who will monitor, profile, and guide you as you solve over a hundred unique spatial problems. Over time this AI will develop a hilariously-misguided understanding of humanity based on your performance and survey response data.
While Lab Rat pokes fun at the absurdity of algorithmically-generated interactions, this game is lovingly hand-crafted by a team of expert human developers. Lab Rat is directed by Gwen Frey (creator of Kine & co-creator of The Flame in the Flood). It features environment art by Mike Snight (Lead World Builder, Bioshock Infinite), writing and programming by Ian Bond (Programmer/Developer, Bioshock 1), and puzzles by Lucas Le Slo (beloved experimental puzzle designer).

Currently have the game roughly 60% complete. The game starts as pretty ordinary sokoban puzzler with a twist, but after a while the game takes a very interesting turn. Don't skip just because it's a sokoban.

Before purchase I though it would be a nice puzzle game with character copied from GlaDOS, but damn the humor, voice acting, puzzle variety and story are good. Worth playing.
I really appreciate this game. For a lot of reasons. First, it's a solid sokoban. There is enough diversity and interesting gimmicks to keep the game fresh. The way the level selection process changes as the story progresses was really cool. Sometimes a sokoban will be a giant overworld with varying degrees of meta puzzles. This game progresses and changes as you go along and it made the game feel a bit more alive and interesting. Second, it's pretty funny. I really enjoy all of the videogame references and social commentary. And the way many of the gimmicks are tied to themed areas. The noise that you hear before the first of these presents instantly triggered me back to my childhood and I knew what was about to happen before it came on screen. Great job! The difficulty for the game is average. I have played a lot of sokobans, Monster's Expedition, SSR, etc., and this is a much simpler game. I did get hung up a few times, but nothing like these other sokobans where I would spend hours on a specific puzzle. All sokobans don't need to be that way, and sometimes it's just nice to solve puzzles at a good place and enjoy a game with a silly story. The graphics, sounds, music, and voice acting, all are solid. I did find a few bugs. These were easily fixed by quitting a level and going back in. Nothing game breaking, though levels would freeze. I think the dev team is small, so it's not a huge deal. And if the dev team is small, then this is a very impressive game. Either way, it really is great. Overall, this is a really fun game that I would definitely recommend. If you enjoy sokobans, I would just go ahead and pick it up. If you have never played a sokoban, this would be a solid first entry into the genre. I completed the game 100% in 8 hours. If you really like puzzle games and sokobans, the asking price is totally fair, given the quality of the game, the experience, and the gimmicks/puzzles. If you are new to the genre, and it's on even a small sale, I would definitely pull the trigger.
Fun little puzzle game with pretty good humor and writing!
