About

A soulful mystery awaits in Kulebra and the Souls of Limbo, the enchanting and heart-warming adventure where death is just the beginning of the journey.
From the colors and the characters, to the puzzles and exploration, Kulebra and the Souls of Limbo is a warm and wonderful trip through a vibrant Latin American-flavored world known as Limbo, interwoven with humor, heart and just a little bit of darkness.

As Kulebra - a snake who awakens in the afterlife with no memory of their past - you are tasked with unravelling the mystery of Limbo, a strange phenomenon that keeps the residents who dwell there repeating the same day on end, all whilst piecing together your own mysterious past.

Limbo’s citizens are trapped in a moment of their lives. The sun rises and sets as they go through the same motions every day, never really understanding the monotonous cycle that they are experiencing. But Kulebra is different. They remember everything, and have the ability to advance time at will. These very special skills will be indispensable in helping Kulebra unfurl the mystery of why these souls are trapped, and how they can be freed.

A host of unforgettable spirits, entities, and characters inhabit Limbo. There are brilliant allies to aid and guide you, citizens to engage you in spirited conversations, native entities with their own feelings about the dead, and those who have deeper and darker motivations. It’s up to you to find out which is which and who is who.

Kulebra is a unique type of entity in this world, a Bright Soul. While you are counted among the dead, you are one of the few who have the unique ability to change the cycles many of the dead find themselves in. Through conversation, discovery, empathy, and some snooping around, you can mark the souls of the dead, helping them overcome what keeps them trapped, and eventually move on. You can help the Souls of Limbo create actual and lasting change.

Galla was founded by two Dominican brothers in Illinois, USA, in 2015, although we started long before moving to the USA. We decided to form this studio because we want to bring adventures and stories that spark enjoyment and leave a big impact on those who experience it, the same way past games shaped us.
Our first project was a mobile endless runner with story elements. This game helped us gain a lot of development insight and confidence as developers. We didn’t want to give up on the studio and our game, so we decided to give the characters and setting of that game a second life to transform them into something a lot closer to games we’ve loved, leading to the creation of Kulebra and the Souls of Limbo.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in the game so far. While not difficult, the gameplay leads the player into a captivating story of what it means to live, loss, trauma, and growth. The multitude of side quests succeed in being all unique and providing satisfaction to complete, while also providing story context and world development.

This piece is truly a hidden gem, despite being a very simple and straight forward game, it is incredible to me how the boys managed to make something so heart warming and entertaining, enough to keep me wanting to play more and more. This game is gorgeous, the great Paulo Lara shows off his Art in the greatest of fashion, this entire game was digitally painted by 1 man alone, the amount of effort and dedication shown by Paulo and his brother Pavel into making a game that feels A grade is worthy of a standing ovation. I am super proud and in awe to what these 2 brothers achieved here. My only wish was for them to have infinite resources and time for them to fully express their craft and vision into one single iteration of the game. May this game achieve fandom and popularity in this lifetime!
This was a fantastic game that repeatedly blew away my expectations! The artwork and general presentation is absolutely gorgeous, the soundtrack is great and catchy and the characters and their dialogues are all unique and charming! Every chapter of the story kept me hooked and the climax blew me away. I cried twice, hahah. I understand the critiques about the rather straightforward/simple gameplay, although this didn't bother me personally. I enjoyed the simple thinky gameplay quite a bit, as there were a good amount of pretty clever puzzles. (If anything, the ending left me a confused in a way that wasn't perfectly satisfying - but apparently there might be additional gameplay in the future, so I'll be looking out for that!) EDIT: Coincidentally, not long after I posted this review the Closure Edition came out and wrapped things up quite nicely!! While also teasing a possible continuation in the future, perchance? Anyways, fantastic game, I absolutely recommend it!
Cozy, clever, unexpectedly moving, and a genuinely lovely tribute to Latin American culture wrapped in a point and click puzzle game about helping the dead finally let go. This game hands you a time loop mechanic and immediately puts it to work making you relive the same day over and over, watching every soul in Limbo repeat their exact same tragic routine, completely unaware they're stuck, until you, a snake with zero qualifications in grief counseling, show up and start snooping through their business demanding emotional closure. I said yes to every single side quest. I regret nothing.
An ostensibly simplistic game for people who take pleasure in solving others' problems - in this game, you inhabit a pathologically optimistic spirit in the afterlife that barely knows itself and is yet compelled to help every lost soul it meets to break away from harmful behaviours that prevent them from moving on. It's done vaguely in the style of Paper Mario with regfreshingly mature writing touching on the topics of loss, grief, and achieving closure. It feels good to play, the character design is compelling and varied, puzzles pose only a minor challenge and are nonetheless fun to solve. The game is all-around delightful and, given its accessible price, very hard not to recommend.
Kulebra is a game with a surprising amount of depth. The first chapter eases you nicely into the time loop mechanics while the game opens up an enormous amount by the third. All of the characters are interesting and enjoyable and the overall story keeps you wanting to find out what happens next. Other than several typos throughout the game dialogue, my only critique would be that the ending doesn't feel like much of an ending. The main ending leaves a bunch unresolved and the epilogue contains a lot more closure. Even then though, it kind of feels like the game just... ends. Like "Ok yeah, you did it, now life goes on." Maybe there's some commentary to be had here, but it still felt a little abrupt to me. Still, the game has tons of humor and charm while also knowing when to take itself seriously. I'd highly recommend picking it up and giving at least the first chapter a try, since you can probably finish it within 2 hours. If you like it, you'll find the rest of the game is like that and even better. My 16 hours represents a 100% playthrough other than one collectible I looked up, so overall a very achievable 100%.
