Kitten Love Emulator

I actually love this game so much, haven't even completed it yet either but i definitely recommend you just buy and play the game since it's only 2$, of course the frame rate isn't great and there's many bugs but still one of my favorites out of my steam library

成程、人間とは狂人を装えばここまでイカレた物を作れるのかと大層感心してしまった。猫は可愛い。 操作説明も目的も無く、只々歪んだ世界を彷徨うゲーム？。色々操作してみたが、鉄砲が出て来たり虹が出て来たり訳解らなさはピカイチ。猫の可愛さもピカイチ。 プレイ中にゲームオーバーには出会うことは無かったが、毎度バグでの終了を余儀なくされた。猫にもよく会えた。 まぁ、100円でも200円でも、お金は大切にして欲しい。代わりに猫にエサを買ってあげて欲しい。

This game is genuinely slop. Not even worth the $2.

I haven't completed the game yet, but not sure if I will fully understand everything anyway when I do complete it. Also, not sure if this review reveals "too much" about the game, safest bet if you are remotely interested is to just spend the 2$ and play for yourself, it's worth it. What belies how "random" this game seems to be is how focused it actually is. The game is weird but everything is done deliberately in order to achieve the desired effect. The player is fully unconstrained movement-wise and the levels often change by themselves, through player action or some other methods which give a sense that anything can happen. For me it feels similar to visiting a remote country or area, where you're not fully in your element but can discern repeating sounds, images, etc. Few things give me this feeling short of actually traveling, two that come to my mind immediately are Yume Nikki and Petscop. Most of the puzzles have good obvious clues and there are direct hints anyway through Lucy Fur. There are many puzzles but most aren't too involved, for the more obscure ones I did have to use the steam guides as hints are pretty sparse for these, but this is not the norm. Puzzles engage you but they are not the main point of this game. The fact there are characters in game shows that there is a narrative which is barely out of the player's reach. Tonally the game is enough to keep the player going for hours even without any plot. The emotion system also adds highly to replayability and reminds me of how the levels change in LSD: Dream Emulator. The creator is obscure but fingers crossed in the future we will see a Kitten Love Emulator 2 or perhaps something completely different but equally inspired.
