Kitchen Sync: Aloha!

This game deserves to be more famous. Simple yet surprisingly deep gameplay: it's basically a (quasi)-turn-based tactical cooking game with a Fire Emblem-style support and progression system (which are not words I thought I'd ever use together in a sentence). It's all about finding synergies between chefs and dishes to optimise the workflow in the kitchen. The game leaves plenty of room for experimentation by allowing to pick your menu along with "twists" (i.e. mods) you can apply to your recipes, chefs and their various abilities, and even your kitchen layout. It features different maps with restrictions and modifiers so you can never rely on one winning strategy. Presentation, story and writing are competent though nothing to write home about, but they all work together to create what I can only describe as a "cozy addictive" gameplay loop. The vibe is very chill and there is an easy mode if you just want to cook in peace without having to optimise! Finally, there are also regular updates both for content and balance and the dev really seems to listen to the players, which is always a big plus!

The gameplay loop was fun and not boring. Each day gives me a new thing to do, and I'm not pressured to always follow the main quests. The side quests and bonus levels are interesting. Loving the visual novel and cooking mechanics :D

I loved playing this game. The story is great and so many moments hit close to home. The characters interact with each other so well and I just loved all of the dating moments with the characters. I've never went to Hawaii but always vibed with the culture and loved anything tropical related, not to mention the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ food art in this game is so beautiful. So many moments made me hungry seeing the amazing food that the devs paid homage to. They did their work well when making this game, I just can't stop praising how good this game was, I just wish I seen it sooner. It sucks barely anyone talked about this since it released my last year, This would of been at the top 10 of games I played back in 2025!

I really enjoyed this. The mechanics are fun, the characters and story are cute and easy to enjoy, and I loved the Fire Emblem-inspired support conversations. As a lover of both Fire Emblem and cozy games, I had a great time! The clear love of and care for Hawaiian culture and food were also a delight to see. I definitely have some new dishes I'd like to try.

An adorable game that combines all the best parts of strategy games and cooking games. The art is phenomenal (especially the dishes themselves), the music is catchy, and the cast is an absolute delight. It was so fun getting to know all of them, and the story kept me interested from beginning to end. On the gameplay side, it was a ton of fun to play around with combining the team's skills against the challenges of various levels and locations. One thing that I think a lot of turn-based strategy games miss out on is unique map challenges - Kitchen Sync provides those in spades. The support system was so lovely, as well, and I like the little break that support-building minigames like fishing provided.

Such a cute, feel-good, underrated game. Highly recommend, if you've ever played Mystia's izakaya and games similar to that, this game is almost the same vibe and loveliness. The loop is not boring and constantly stays engaging, and the story is fun alongside it's fun cast of characters.
