About
Kingslayers is a free-to-play Roguelite featuring both turn-based and real-time strategy elements. Select your team and choose your skills, then jump into a run to see what broken builds you can create!
Once you get your bearings, you can conquer ever-increasing ascension difficulties in single-player mode or enter multiplayer and try to climb to the top of the leaderboard.
The multiplayer is designed for fast-paced, chaotic action. You and your opponent will traverse an identical run and meet at different stages to showcase your builds and outwit each other. This isn't your regular turn-based strategy - speed, quick decisions, and quick reactions are going to play a major part in you climbing to the top of the rankings.
So get on in here and enjoy the theory crafting, minigames and wacky characters. We need you to stop the wizard space snakes as they psychically control bipedal creatures and use them as pawns in their yearly death tournament (or ignore the lore and just slay some kings).
Additional Details, Background and Boring Dev Ramblings
I started learning game design and making this game in 2019 and had a working version in 2021. Looking at the massive task ahead of me, I gave up multiple times, with several year-long breaks between working on the project, thinking it would never be finished. I am so happy to say it is finally here and am really proud of what it has become.
In order to release this game before the pending AI apocalypse, I have ironically included some AI elements, mainly in the form of the full-screen images for the encounters and some of the music. Everything purchasable, all VFX, all playable characters, and the voice acting in the game remain human-made. I will continue to work to replace the AI elements in the coming months after release.
I named the company BortsDad after my dog Albus, AKA Bort, who, through the entire last six-month leg of development, sat at my feet day in and day out, supporting me every step of the way.
He's a good boy.
