Kanji Cats

More fun then the usual ways of learning Kanji and vocab like flash cards. Being able to filter out by levels to do revision or to learn new words is a huge plus !!

Adorable game which is a really fun way to drill kanji. I haven't really used the filter feature, so I started at the very beginning even though I know all those kanji like the back of my hand - it was a good way to get used to the gameplay. That said, I'll probably use more filters in the future for revision; I'm glad it includes that feature. Each round only takes a few minutes, so you can get in as much per day as you want! And I love the gachapon feature and using those to decorate my game!

imo one of the most polished games of its type, and has great customizability. very fun, very cute, incredible quality of life features, havent ran into any bugs, and most importantly you can actually learn!

A very useful complementary tool for Japanese study, at a very reasonable price. Had it wishlisted while I played the previous game, and bought this one on release. I like the charming simplicity of its design, how light it feels to run, as well as the variety of mini games available for whatever learning method you happen to prefer at the moment. Sometimes I'm too lazy/distractable to focus on typing furigana quickly, so it's nice to also have mini games where you can just click stuff. Perfect for having something to do while immersion listening. I just select a bunch of words, put it on infinity mode and grind away. I especially like the inclusion of radicals, as I personally find breaking kanji down into smaller parts makes the whole thing feel a lot more manageable. Not to mention that it's not just kanji, but kanji in more of a vocabulary context. Learning how characters are actually used and combined into words feels just as important as learning the characters themselves. There's also a good amount of customizablity in difficulty, so it's most likely useful whether you've just started or getting more advanced. I myself only started wading into literacy quite recently, so I'm still very much closer to the former. I always learned more with my ears than my eyes, so there's a bit of a rift in my ability right now. I can listen to a podcast episode or watch a Youtube video and understand quite a lot of it. But any text on its own is a struggle to say the least. But I am slowly but surely getting better, and this is one of those tools that makes this whole endeavor feel doable. With its wide range of uses with hopefully more updates in the works, along with a very reachable and responsive developer, this game is a solid deal that does exactly what it says on the box. Thumbs up, totally worth it.
