game is cool at first glance. however the missions feel the exact same. Fight ai, grab loot in chests, take loot back to ship. had hopes it would be fun but after 6hrs i am already finding it one of the most boring games out there. i get its early access but there definitely could be more potential in the future. just not so repetitive...
A very, very promising early access title, which, sadly, still lacks enough content to give it a proper final verdict. But it could definitely use another positive review to helps players notice it, and to keeps the devs encouraged.
Story - 6.5/10
Too early to judge. The premise is kind of generic, but it works and that's what matters. Humanity fighting a galaxy-wide war against rogue AIs, losing, and you're the one to try being a hero and turn the tide. Missions themselves don't really have much narrative behind them - just go to point A to get stuff and/or destroy enemies.
Gameplay - 8/10
When it works, especially in multiplayer, it's actually really great. Finally we have a completely seamless transition from FPS to spaceship sim. You can fly in space, board enemy ships, leave your own ship through an airlock while it's flying and run along it's hull, repairing the damage or just shooting at other ships with your firearms. With all four players, the seamless transition from landing on some station and engaging in classic, sci-fi FPS combat and then calling your pilot friend to pick you up, get yourself pulled to the ship using a zipline hook, and then either helping put off the fires on your ship, or fight off the boarding parties, or sit in the gunman chair and operate a turret - all of it just becomes one perfectly smooth, engaging and enjoyable experience. The problems come with the lack of enemy variety, relatively empty locations, limited progression. All of these issues are slowly getting addressed. Hopefully, by the full release, the experience will be marginally better.
Graphics - 7.5/10
It looks decent. The space, the planet backgrounds, the ships, the weapons, animations - all of it is nice. Enemy design and some interior elements - a bit lacking. It's not something to brag about or distinctly remember, but it is just a solid visual design, overall.
Sound - 6.5/10
It's okay. SFX and soundtrack are fine, but they're mostly just generic sci-fi stuff. Don't expect something that will stick in your mind, like Mass Effect.
Conclusion
7/10, with a lot of potential. Hopefully, by full release, it will be realized.
Space game with too many things it wants to be while not excelling in any of them latest "weapons" update only added 1 weapon, most of the guns in this game don't feel that great or fun to play with. The update added random rolled effects on weapons that can be super RNG if the gun is good, even if its highest rarity it can be useless. Most of the machine guns don't do any damage, the shotgun is incredibly unsatisfying. Melee is ok but everything will kill you quickly. Ship combat is very simple, however they just changed how shields and hull work. Early on without a strong shield, your ship is very fragile, could be rough for new players. The ship weapons are much better then the on-foot weapons, and I do enjoy the power grid mini-game. However, wish components could be more customizable between ships, the starting ship is the only ship that can use Multi-turret components, meanwhile the new giant ship can only have 4 special weapons, feels like a loss opportunity. It's also would of benefitted a crew of atleast 6 players instead of being locked to 4 players UI seems incredibly bugged at times and some component/weapon modules seem to get nerfed when you upgrade them. The RNG loot can be incredibly unsatisfying as well, there's so many modifiers you want to hunt for and try to find the perfect combination but it's highly unlikely. Finding the Rarest rarity items is also not fun as the weapon or component can just have all bad rolls. Content is highly repetitive and not enough mission diversity 4/10
Absolutely enjoying this game. I saw a comment about it not having single player in mind and I would Wholeheartedly disagree. 85% of my hours so far have been single player. I completed a tier 5 mission solo multiple times, in fact tier 4/5 are the only missions I'll do at this point. The A/I buddy is on point. To the other comments made about it being repetitive I would have to agree but that's with any game I suppose. The gameplay loop and challenge for me is entertaining enough that the repetitiveness doesn't bother me. The only thing I wish they would add or change is the ability to modify the weapons kind of like a gunsmithing thing. Finding a weapon with good perks and stats only for it to be iron sights kind of blows. Looking forward to seeing what they have in store for this game as I plan to sink a few hundred hours into it!
the dev team seems to have no real direction for their game updates, was having fun before a update that nerfed all ship parts. they are so focused on balance that they took the fun out of the game
게임이 재밌냐 재미없냐만 따지면 재밌긴한데 게임이 상당히 불친절하며 게임사가 유저 적대적임 너프패치를 자주함 사실분들은 감안하고 사시길
I can't recommend this game or write a positive thing about this. It is a game that is made to literally waste your time. The loot isn't worth it. You pick up a cool weapon with attachments, and you can only upgrade that gun with those attachments. You can unlock the blueprint for that gun, but you can't remove the attachments. If you find a gun just like it that has good attachments on it too, it doesn't get upgraded even though you spent a lot of time upgrading the other gun... Upgrading the ship parts is the same thing. You can only have 4 blueprints at a time, and that isn't for each part of the ship. That's stupid. This game makes you waste time to invest more into believing that the game gets better so that you go over the 2 hour limit before you realize that you can't refund the game. Brilliant idea, devs. You played the players to line your pockets.
If Sea of Thieves and Arc Raiders made a baby... in space! And without the toxicity, old gamer approved!
Not a year in early access, But so pog, this is madness! Ship combat is smooth like butter, Equip dual lazor, be a spaceship cutter. Make ANANAS pizza for boost and buff, Then go melee, kick ass, no fluff. Collect materia, craft rocket launcher, Sit on roof, have a boom-boom voucher. Grab minigun, make it spin and shoot, Evil robots won't just give you their loot. If game too easy, go corvette farming, RN-Jesus have mercy, give something charming! Space is lonely so bring a friend, But in solo buddy bot lends you a hand. A must-play if you have space affinity, This game will protect your virginity.
