That was different for sure, I think people will laugh a lot for this one but could do with some bug fixes. YouTuber: Fellowplayer https://youtu.be/sXQuxojd0B4

I cant even beat the first boss, harder than dark souls
Probably the guys who made this game are good artists, but bad game developers. and it really gives the impression that you are not watching flash animation, but you control it, but the control is extremely bad. Why is it that when I pick up a heal my HP decreases lol Negative feedback only because the game has been developed for at least 2 years, and is still very much in such a bad state..
Johnny Rocket, developed by KG Game Studuo in collaboration with Hede and published by Hede, is a 2D side-scrolling action platformer that aims to blend fast-paced run-and-gun mechanics with a deliberately rough, hand-drawn comic book aesthetic. At first glance, what immediately distinguishes the game from the crowded indie platformer space is its stark black-and-white visual presentation. The entire adventure looks as though it has been sketched in a notebook with thick ink lines and exaggerated cartoon expressions, giving the experience a raw, almost doodle-like personality. Rather than striving for polish in the traditional sense, the game leans heavily into this stylized minimalism, attempting to carve out its own identity through bold outlines, sharp contrasts, and a deliberately chaotic visual tone. Gameplay centers on straightforward platforming fundamentals: running, jumping, double jumping, shooting, and utilizing a headbutt-style attack to dispatch enemies or break through obstacles. The controls are simple and accessible, making it easy for newcomers to grasp Johnny’s moveset within minutes. Combat is constant, with enemies populating nearly every stretch of each level, firing projectiles or charging directly at the player. The shooting mechanics are functional and responsive enough to carry the action, but they remain mechanically basic. There are no elaborate upgrade trees, weapon variations, or layered combat systems to deepen the experience. Instead, Johnny Rocket focuses on immediacy—jump in, blast enemies, dodge incoming fire, and push forward toward the level’s boss encounter. Level design follows a linear structure, guiding players from left to right through obstacle-laden stages that culminate in boss fights. While the progression is easy to follow, the simplicity of the layouts can make the experience feel repetitive over time. Enemy placements occasionally create difficulty spikes, particularly when projectiles crowd narrow platforms or when hazards demand precise timing. At times, the challenge can feel less like a test of mastery and more like a demand for memorization, especially when unexpected enemy fire catches players mid-jump. This uneven difficulty balance may frustrate those looking for tight, skill-based design comparable to genre heavyweights. Still, for players who enjoy quick reflex challenges and are willing to replay segments to perfect their timing, the game can offer moments of satisfying momentum. The boss battles attempt to inject variety into the otherwise straightforward pacing. These encounters typically require pattern recognition and sustained fire while dodging attacks, but they do not evolve far beyond traditional platformer tropes. There is spectacle in their exaggerated animations and cartoonish designs, yet mechanically they remain relatively simple. The game’s brevity amplifies this feeling; with only a handful of stages, the entire experience can be completed in a short sitting. For some players, this compact runtime makes Johnny Rocket feel more like a small experimental project than a fully fleshed-out platforming adventure. Others may appreciate the concise format, especially if approached as a short arcade-style challenge rather than a lengthy campaign. Audio design complements the visual style with energetic rock-inspired tracks that attempt to maintain a high tempo throughout the action. The soundtrack, while not especially memorable, matches the frenetic pace of combat and platforming. Sound effects are functional but unrefined, reinforcing the impression that this is a modestly scoped indie production. There is an underlying charm in the game’s rough edges, yet those same rough edges can also be interpreted as a lack of polish. Technical issues and minor glitches have been noted by some players, further contributing to the perception that the title prioritizes stylistic flair over mechanical refinement. Narratively, Johnny Rocket does not present a deep or emotionally driven storyline. The plot serves primarily as a backdrop for the action, relying on light humor and exaggerated comic-style interludes to punctuate progress between stages. The tone is playful and irreverent, though not especially layered. For players who value story-driven platformers with rich character development, this aspect may feel underwhelming. However, those who approach the game purely for its arcade sensibilities and visual novelty may find the simplicity fitting for its fast-paced structure. Ultimately, Johnny Rocket stands as a bold but uneven indie effort. Its black-and-white comic aesthetic gives it an unmistakable identity and demonstrates a willingness to experiment visually. At the same time, its limited content scope, basic combat mechanics, and inconsistent difficulty may leave seasoned platformer enthusiasts wanting more depth and refinement. It feels less like a fully realized epic adventure and more like a compact, stylized experiment in action-platforming design. For players curious about offbeat indie titles with distinctive art direction and short, arcade-style gameplay loops, Johnny Rocket offers a brief but energetic experience. Those seeking a more expansive, mechanically layered platformer, however, may find its ambitions outpaced by its execution. Rating: 5/10
