Incredible game. Not only did it scratch the metroidvania itch, it also wrapped it in an endearing bow. Memorable characters, engaging puzzles, and clever dungeons/boss fights. What more can I ask for?

Pretty constrictive Zelda-like (not unlike Kharon's Crypt). I don't feel like I can enjoy the same freedom to roam as I can in say, Blossom Tales 2 or Master Key. Some of the mechanics are pretty cool, like the ability to store a copy of a block/trap and then take it to a different screen to place it - the game is creative with the abilities that you get. My frustrations stem from the game map not being much good, the constrictive, harsh, puzzle-box nature of the games design where doing anything and going anywhere feels like a puzzle/chore. Normally the overworld is the fun chill part in Zelda games but even navigating that feels dungeon-like to me. The game is otherwise pretty well-done and I imagine those who aren't as bothered by my gripes may well enjoy this one.
THE game is pretty good ,but we need chinese.
I'll write a more detailed review after I've finished wrapping up Isle of Reveries, but as a Kickstarter backer who was given the opportunity to test the second dungeon of the game, I'll just say this: You guys have no idea what you're in for. This game is more than just a mere love letter to an IP that we all know and adore, it's everything that I love about the genre condensed into one masterpiece of a package. Zelda-like lovers, rejoice! Isle of Reveries is the game that you've been waiting for.
I absolutely adored this game from start to finish. It wears its Link's Awakening and Colorgrave games inspiration on its sleeve, but what's delivered is an experience I couldn't put down. This game is brimming with content, secrets, clever dungeon mechanics and a ton of collectables. Gorgeous style, great OST - what else can you ask for? Really good work here, desertcucco. This game was phenomenal.
I feel the need to be critical about the overworld. The game is basically a love letter to Link's Awakening, but has somehow completely lost the plot regarding overworld traversal. A myriad of tedious detours, pointless shortcuts, and lifting about two dozen throwable obstacles out of your way in any direction you choose. It lacks the whimsy and mystery that made the classic 2D Zelda overworlds a joy to explore, and in place of it is a nightmarish route of one way screens that leaves you wishing that you could have simply walked the one screen over instead of navigating the ten screen slog that inevitably awaits you. Outside of the overworld complaints, I would say that the combat is fine, the music is OK, the dungeons I've done so far are neat, with the exception of one bonus dungeon that needs some puzzle tweaks, and the game does have some neat ideas of it's own with the copy mechanics and buildings. Overall, I'd say that I would have expected to have had a better time with a game that borrowed so, so, so much from one of my favorite Zelda titles. If there was fast travel, and maybe there is later in the game to which I would advise making it available immediately, it would help immensely.
Best Zeldalike on steam and it's not even close. Great dungeons, great puzzles, charming characters, pretty much the only game trying to do Zelda that actually understands its inspiration. Easy 2026 GOTY.
Hai I am Vangie aka Baaangie the sheep Npc. I just found out my own achievement ;-; I have been so excited for the game and kickstarted it because I really enjoy the pixle artist and the process in this. I have played almost 20 hours and it has the Zelda spin around and funnies. Music great Puzzles be teasing Fighting be tough The style coined With all great games, im sure patches will fix issues some of these down voters be yapping about. To Note some bugs i notice Sometimes the enemy BIG FELLA BOMB will get stuck Your copy arrow/ flame will not trigger between phases YOUR RAFT WILL TRIGGER YOU AND YOU FALL OFF THEN COLLIDE WITH OLD RAFT , if you are unskilled like me. Thats like my only known bugs Jumping gotta get used to it, hit box idk im not smart, I just know funny claw move the sword away makes mask mad angry fist sulk. Play it is worth the price now :3
Writing this as of third dungeon. Isle of Reveries is a very good gameboy-style Zelda-clone. It scratches the itch not many have been able to do, which is provide complex dungeons where the entire dungeon is a maze/puzzle. It is exactly what I've been looking for. There is a combination of interesting dungeon gimmick and clever item use. On top of that there are good items that have a variety of puzzle and combat interactions. The story is engaging so far, it's got nice atmosphere and charming NPCs. The pixel art and music are very good for a GBC-style game. I only have two complaints: One is that the overworld is a bit too dense, it is almost more of a maze than the dungeons and almost every tiny screen has multiple separate paths crammed on it. It makes navigating a little tedious and there aren't as many unlockable shortcuts as I would like. Two is that the platforming is not very refined for a top down game with a dedicated jump button. The jump is pretty short to barely clear 1 tile wide gaps and the character weirdly snaps to moving platforms which I am glad there are not many of.
