to say im not having fun in the game would be a lie and to be honest the performance on my hardware is much to be desired but mind you i'm running it at the very lowest of the low graphics with third party software like virtual desktop, open composite(which wouldn't affect it in this case) and vrperftkit rsf to get reasonable performance on a pre-cached, hand made loaded map that should already have optimized geometry. the closest comparasion i can make to something like that is half life alyx where they have the same thing and you can run the game flawlessly. im not here to argue which game engine is better or whatever but as a consumer and other peoples point of view with some of the best hardware like ryzen 7 9800x3ds and 4080s/4090s lagging in the game goes to show that the game clearly leaves a lot to desire. the game is stupidly fun in co-op and fire fights on higher difficulties seem to be a blast but i feel like the developers are almost ignoring the issue. they claimed they would do an optimization pass on 1.0 and here we are with no optimization passes at all, they aren't silent about it and they're aware but they just dont seem to have the intent of doing it anytime soon, they seem more focused on bugs and small patches there were a lot more problems with the game like objectives not be super obvious and such and softlocks on reloading during super important parts but thats beside the point, this isn't a downvote for those who like fun but those who like to have fun and a smooth experience. i'd say it might be the best co-op vr game if they just smoothed out the entire experience.
Runs great on my Quest 3, i ran 5408 x 2912 (1,3x) 72hz and game runs great no stutters or frame drops. Ingame my settings are on Middle.
Into the radius is amazing but i wish that it could be optimized for psvr2 because I played the first one on ps5 so being able to play the second one is awesome there just abysmal stutters and frame drops trying to do the littlest things. If you play on something else though you'll be fine.
Goob Game
I absolutely loved the first game, and this sequel improves upon it in almost every way. First off, the graphical jump is fantastic. Switching from the original game's Unity engine to Unreal Engine 5 is a massive upgrade that looks incredible. They’ve also introduced a brand-new story that is completely different from the first title, making it a very welcome and fresh experience. During the beta, the story delivery felt a bit intrusive, but the devs have since updated it, and it flows much better now. If you’re new to the series, you can easily jump right in without playing the first one. The gunplay feels heavy and responsive, backed up by powerful weapon audio that puts other VR shooters to shame. Object interaction is handled well too; while some background items are static for performance reasons, the world still feels highly immersive. The biggest win is the multiplayer. My buddy and I tested the beta heavily and were initially let down by a laggy, high latency mess. Now, the multiplayer is seamless. The interaction issues are entirely gone, and other VR developers should honestly look at this game as a blueprint for how to do co-op right. I wish the VR community had more developers like this team. They actually listen to feedback, have a clear vision, and are landing it perfectly.
Tried this game again after quitting in 2025 for comfort issues, the story mode really surprised me To devs: please add bolt catch slapping physics for the ar15 platformed weapons and make the reloading system like other games where you can pull the mag out instead of having to hold a button to semi eject the mag just to grab it
Very good game, its everything I wanted out of this after playing the first game for 80 hours and getting to play this Co-op was just the icing on top, so far I'm only up to the Romashka Cooperative and just hit security level 3 and unfortunately my mate and I did spend the first 10 or so hours trouble shooting a lot of problems that may or may not be this games fault. An example I could give is that once we reached the Cooperative the frame rate dropped to a solid 20 and then proceeded to become a slide show once we entered any towns, becoming literally unplayable. We managed to fix this issue by turning off motion smoothing in the SteamVR settings and putting the Frames from 90 to 120 which seems like such a bizarre fix because all my other VR games ran fine, but now it runs at a good smooth amount (I didn't check the exact frame rate) for me with ZERO spikes or drops in FPS (yes I have a pretty good PC as well). But once we got past all the minor issues we just had a 7 hour session with no hiccups and we made good progress and had A LOT of fun playing around in the shop testing out the weapons and using them in raid. The only gripe I may have is that there doesn't seem to be any sort of clear pathways through the anomaly fields like in the first game which makes navigating them feel a little frustrating and artifact hunting less rewarding because of how little they are worth. All in all, Great game, cant wait to get into my next session.
What an amazing game series. The atmosphere and set pieces are awesome. The customization is cool. The voice acting and story was okay. There were some hiccups here and there but the devs are continually working on it. When they add more stuff I'll return. Definitely a grab if you liked Into The Radius 1 and shooters. Coop up to 2 players with 4 player coop coming to the main release in the future(haven't tried coop).
