When I played Limbo, I thought it was a little overrated, even though it was still a decent game. Because of that, I wasn’t expecting Inside to hit me this hard, but I absolutely loved it. It is such a beautifully made game. It is short, but it gives you the kind of experience that stays in your head for a long time. There is no direct story, no cutscenes explaining everything to you, and barely anything is told in a traditional way. Most of it is happening in the background, but the game uses its atmosphere and environment so well that you start building the story in your own head. The people you see, the things happening around you, the strange world itself, all of it makes you imagine what is really going on. Pulling that off in a game is incredibly hard, and Inside does it so well that I was honestly impressed the whole way through. The puzzles are also great. They are creative, strange, and some of them feel like things I haven’t really seen in other games. I tried to solve almost everything without help, and I think I only looked up one puzzle. The visuals are amazing too. The depressing color palette fits the theme perfectly, and the animations are incredibly fluid and realistic. Honestly, this is one of those games I would just tell people to play. And then make other people play. It is short, memorable, creative, and genuinely fantastic. 9/10 - Exceptionally good game but not a masterpiece.
