Reviews
A fast-paced Visual Novel about a detective investigating missing guests at a hotel managed by Count Grozdan, a vampire. With choices to be made, the story has multiple endings ready to be exposed. PROS: - Visual Novel with vampires, werewolves and ghosts; - Short detective experience; - Idea of a sister location to Hotel Transylvania; - Nice backgrounds and music; - Choices that impact the story (multiple-endings); - Easy to medium difficulty to obtain achievements. NEUTER: - Too fast-forward to me, but it's okay. CONS: - None at the moment. I will play it again sometime soon to see how the story will unveil.
I beat this game on Friday 13th, between 4.20 AM and 6.90 AM. Because why not. Also when the hell is 6.90 AM?
Follow Far2close - Visual Novel Playthroughs Curator Page
Hotel Perkkow and the Two Vegetarian Werewolves Developer: John Flex Publisher: John Flex
Intro:
You are a detective taking up a new case, but this one is quite peculiar than usual. Guests have been disappearing from Hotel Perkkow, a less popular hotel nearby Transylvania. When the detective enters, he meets a team of unique employees consisting of a vampire, a ghost maid, and vegetarian werewolves. You can make your deductions, but will you be right on who you accuse?
Pros:
1. Most of the character art is fine, having multiple facial expressions. The most refined out of all of them is Ivanka, so the artist must be more experienced in drawing women than men. The men still look good though and I give praise for doing their best. Character art is by two_ii. 2. The only characters that are interesting are Ivanka and Jack. Ivanka has a hot temper but once she has calmed down, she is pleasant to speak with. Jack seems to be a calm werewolf and unlike Ivanka, rarely gets unhappy. These stand out greatly among the characters.
Neutrals:
1. The music is royalty free but I feel as I don't possess enough information to warrant to say that it fits in well with the scenes they are placed in.
Cons:
1. There's a story in it, it's very loose, but it's there. Is it executed well? No. You're told of missing guests in a hotel similar to Hotel Transylvania, so you expect one of the monsters did it. Information is key in mystery, but it's hard to gather if you're only allowed 1 question per suspect. With only one opportunity for information, you can EASILY miss out on something along with when it's time to deduce who done it, you might spoil yourself with information YOU didn't know. What do I mean by this? There's a section where you can choose to research the staff, look at Hotel Perkkow's website, check TripAdvisor, or go sleep. Let's say you choose to research two staff members, so you're unable to look at TripAdvisor and the website. Depending on the answers you choose during deduction, the Detective states things that YOU, the reader, did not look up. There are also choices that you shouldn't know, but you are able to state them to Grozdan. You can also accuse the staff of wrongdoing, but with how Count Grozdan reacts, it doesn't look correct. You can accuse Grozdan, but it doesn't feel warranted. The correct accusation makes the whole story feel so pointless. I understand it's supposed to be comedic, but the ending is just so poor and lackluster. 2. All the backgrounds are A.I. generated. I understand that the development is costly and background art is a necessity, however there are royalty free backgrounds available online designed by artists. They may not be specified to what you desire, but it is much more appreciated. If you do continue to make visual novels, I do hope you can use backgrounds you can commission or use royalty free. It'll make the experience better for everyone. 3. I would like to see more sprite variations such as different poses. CG art would greatly help as well. 4. There are a large amount of misspellings. At the beginning, there is even a misspelling of Perkkow that it says, "Prekkow".
Conclusion:
The story is quite loose and the ending is a letdown. There are a large number of misspellings as well. Although my review may be disappointing to read, I do look forward to The One Legged Octopus, if that is a real thing in development. May my comments help in improving future releases.
