Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.14/day in the week to Jul 23 → 0.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
This is not a routine patch, this is a structural refinement of your experience based on player feedback.
Movement is faster. Combat recovery is shorter. Parries now matter. Dodges create space. Enemies react longer. Multiplayer is fairer. The opening experience is clearer. The entire game runs better.
This is the game we always wanted you to play.
Welcome to Hotel Barcelona: Under New Management.
A mysterious hotel stands in a remote location on the border between Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Its luxurious appearance hides a terrifying truth: it’s a trap for America’s most dangerous serial killers.
You are Justine, a novice federal marshal with a deadly secret - your mind is shared with Dr. Carnival, a deranged murderer with a violent past. Together, you must eliminate every killer in the hotel… and try to survive long enough to escape.
This is not a simple side-scrolling action game. The intense battles require tactical movement, precise timing, and clever use of your abilities. Environments are rich with danger and drenched in 1980s American horror movie atmosphere.
Every time you die, a memory of your past self is born. These echoes, known as Slasher Phantoms, repeat your exact movements from the previous run, and can deal real damage to enemies.
Use them as shields, allies, or distractions. With each failure, your strength multiplies.
The more you fight, the more you’re covered in blood. This isn’t just visual flare. Blood fuels your power.
Fill the Skull Gauge by staying aggressive, and when it reaches its peak, unleash Carnival Awakening: a devastating special attack that unleashes something unstoppable but monstrous.
Explore seven unique areas within HOTEL BARCELONA, each inspired by a different sub-genre of horror.
From haunted mansions to twisted laboratories, each zone contains an unforgettable boss battle that demands analysis, strategy, and quick reflexes.

SUDA51 (No More Heroes, Killer7) and SWERY (Deadly Premonition, The Good Life) team up for the first time in this original horror-action project.
Their distinct styles combine into a surreal, gore-filled, unforgettable experience.
At first glance, HOTEL BARCELONA may look like a single-player roguelike. However, the game also features robust online multiplayer if you know how to unlock it. Up to three players can join forces in co-op mode, working together to complete missions and survive the hotel's murderous inhabitants. And for those seeking a more competitive thrill, PvP mode allows a fourth player to invade your world, hunting or being hunted in a brutal cat-and-mouse game.
Sums Steam only; PlayStation, Xbox publish no volume signal, so the true total is higher by an unknown amount.

One of the wackiest and weirdest games I've ever played. B movie references galore. Best played with friends.
An interesting mix of mechanics and systems wrapped in Swery’s signature quirky charm
HOTEL BARCELONA is a stylish, weird, and very cult-feeling action roguelike with great ideas, but its gameplay doesn’t fully live up to its concept. The strongest part of the game is its identity. The slasher horror theme, bizarre characters, strange bosses, and SWERY-style madness give the game a very unique flavor. It doesn’t feel like a safe or generic roguelike, and that alone makes it interesting. The Slasher Phantom system is also a genuinely cool idea. When you die, your previous run returns as a phantom to help you in the next attempt. It turns death into part of the gameplay loop, which fits the theme really well. However, the main problem is the game feel. For an action roguelike, the combat should feel sharp, responsive, and satisfying, but HOTEL BARCELONA often feels stiff and a bit sluggish. Attacking, dodging, and parrying don’t always feel as smooth as they should. Sometimes dying feels less like “I made a mistake” and more like “the character didn’t respond fast enough.” The roguelike loop also doesn’t feel strong enough to keep me hooked for a long time. There are weapons, perks, upgrades, and different areas, but the content starts to feel repetitive fairly quickly. The game has style and creativity, but not enough depth or replay value to fully carry the experience. Visually, the game has a strong identity and some memorable designs, even if it is not always impressive on a technical level. The audio is decent and fits the tone, but it lacks the impact and energy that a blood-soaked slasher action game should have. Overall, HOTEL BARCELONA is not a bad game. It has personality, charm, and some genuinely interesting ideas. But the combat, content amount, and overall polish hold it back. Recommended only if you enjoy cult games, SWERY-style weirdness, and can forgive rough gameplay. For most players, I would suggest waiting for a discount.

The work put into Under New Management can't be understated. In a sea of games where developers are happy to just leave their work broken and abandoned, it's clear that the team at White Owls really wanted to make something good and refused to stop until they'd addressed all the initial issues.
fun!! however, i wish the fps limiter allowed you to set the target framerate
I bought the game on release, and played it up to the first boss clear, and it was definitely a less than stellar experience. BUT, after the touch-up patches the game feels much more responsive and fluid. In its current state, I would absolutely recommend giving this game a go. I played 95% of the game on normal (dubbed ingame as "veteran") difficulty, and the early game definitely feels unforgiving. As you start upgrading your skills and weapons, it becomes much more fun to play. The game mechanics are more detailed in the meta aspects (time of day, weather, paths and doors, phantoms, and their respective buffs and debuffs), but the combos and the fighting itself is not super deep. The story and the characters are 100% SWERY grade, if you like his stuff, and / or horror movies and horror pop culture in general, then you will enjoy it for sure. All in all, if you can tough out the first few hours of the game, it becomes easier and more fun as you go along. (Or just crank the difficulty down to easy until you get the hang of things.) The game has a multiplayer part as well with invasions (a la souls games) but I did not do any of it, partly because of the low playercount.
Absolut banger. Not as thought provokingly cool as Deadly Premonition or D4 but right up there with the best of 'em. Swery's still got it.
Love it I waited to buy it and I enjoy it so much
Hotel Barcelona is gallons of SWERY's offbeat originality in a more compact package than usual. DR. CARNIVAL in particular stands as his best protagonist since Francis York Morgan, and while its systems can be overwhelming and obtuse at first you learn their logic with a bit of time. While the 3D models are passable, the 2D art by Hiroaki Hashimoto is absolutely stellar and adds tremendously to the atmosphere of the game. The vocal performance and script in Japanese is likewise laden with flavor, and the dialogues are punchy with no wasted space. Ultimately I appreciate a scrappy game made with creative control and vision, in an era of 200 million dollar focus grouped crapshoots made for everyone and thus no one.
I put too many hours into this game, hopefully I'll be able to get a refund, just having too many crashes, or sprite/character freezing issues (me, enemies, and replay ghost would freeze, but sound , background movement and pausing all worked) would have to alt+F4 and restart, would ruing a full stage run with splatter boosts, movement boots, and what not. basically causing me to lose the chance and getting a run through all story stages without a break achievement, For a 2d metroidvania style game, it didn't really feel like a metroidvainia, more of a stage speed runner with crappy hit boxes and parrying mechanics.
