Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Aug 24 → 0/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Hopeless Sea begins in the late stages of a climatic apocalypse—triggered by the domino effect of global warming, which caused a sudden and drastic rise in global temperatures, leading to the massive melting of polar ice caps. By the mid-21st century, nearly all polar ice had vanished, resulting in a global sea level rise of over 50 meters. This rendered 90% of the world’s coastal megacities uninhabitable. Extreme climate shifts and misguided countermeasures led to the disappearance of vast populations, forcing the survivors to migrate inland to escape relentless tsunamis and storms.
Meanwhile, an unforeseen mutation emerged in the oceans—massive, frenzied sea creatures began appearing in waves. These aberrant beings frequently invaded human settlements, threatening the last remnants of civilization. To save humanity from ruin, their final hope was dispatched into the Hopeless Sea, tasked with uncovering the truth behind this catastrophe and eradicating its root cause.

Choose commander and hull, upgrade traits with your choices. But look, diamonds are dropping! They are awards for eliminating enemies. Collect them and exchange for weapons, upgrades and more at blackmarket.
Defeat bosses and find out the story behind. Elite enemies will show no mercy to those weakened; any mistake you make may lead to Perma Death. So, stay curious, but most importantly, stay cautious.
What emerges from the sea remains unpredictable, so prepare to face procedurally generated monster squads, thus each run is unique! Slay hordes of monsters before they halt your progress.
If you fail, most unfortunately, you will lose all your progress. Yet don't panic at all, all the resources you've collected this run will be automatically used for unlocking new ships from the shipyard. Each time you die, you die with honor. Pick your favorite ship, wield your favorite weapon, and get ready to smash through the sea in this bloodshed.
Hopefully, you will manage to escape from this Hopeless Sea!

Alright. After clearing hard mode, I have to make some critiques. Before I dive in, the game is fun. It has a cool aesthetic which I really enjoy. The nautical theme is fun. I overall like the game, but the game has some big problems. All of them involving the game's difficulty. First, the AI of the enemies needs to be tweaked. All enemies come from the top of the screen and travel downwards. You can easily camp the top of the screen after just a few upgrades and stop many enemies from spawning. This is even an issue in hard mode. Even just having enemies that spawn from different points of the screen and travel up or across would help a lot. Elite enemies should probably have more of a presence, maybe firing sooner than they do so that you can't delete them before they fire. Basically, if you are anything above a noob at shmups, you will be able to manipulate the AI too easily even on the hardest difficulty. The game is way too easy. Second, the characters need to have fixed weapons and undergo some balance changes. No more choosing your own weapons. The characters are laughably unbalanced as they are. The pirate lady I unlocked first is INSANELY overpowered with her bullet cancelling. Restricting each character to weapons that balance their strengths with weaknesses would go very far to making this a more challenging game. Third, balancing the levelups. I don't even have a good suggestion here. It feels slightly too easy to snowball in this game. Although, with the other problems fixed, this probably wouldn't be an issue. This may not need to be changed if the other changes are effective enough. Still leaving this here for something to think about. Fourth, a suggestion I think the devs may enjoy. If you (the devs) disagree with some of my critiques and have a vision for the game that more aligns with how it already is, introduce further game modes with some of my changes. That way you can have your original vision of the easier game without alienating hardcore shmup fans. Honestly, it may be possible to fix the game by just updating the hardest difficulty to be more in line with my vision. My suggestion, personally, would be to keep your original 3 difficulties as a Novice game mode and create a new game mode with the changes I've suggested. This is based on Cave's approach to difficulty settings, specifically Mushihimesama which is considered a classic in the genre. Truly, it's the best of both worlds. Everyone wins. Lastly, sorry for creating work for you (the devs). I appreciate the cool game you've created and I don't mean to sound entitled to your labor. These are just suggestions. The game is fine as is if you want a very easy game. I just can't recommend the game as is. I'd prefer to mark this review as informational, like curation pages, but that is not an option for standard reviews. Good luck! Your game has much potential.

roguelite shmup perfection
What I love most about Hopeless Sea is how personal it feels. It’s not just about dodging bullets and surviving waves. It’s about carving your own path. The game gives you these personality upgrades that let you shape how you want to progress. Like, if you want to hoard diamonds and rake in points? Go for it! Or if you prefer turning your ship into a weapon-upgrade beast? That’s totally valid. It respects your style and lets you lean into it. The visual design is super smart too. The bluish gray for the world, bright orange for enemies and bullets. It’s not flashy, but it’s striking, and more importantly, it’s clear. You always know what to focus on. That clarity gives the whole game a smooth, focused feel that really pulls you in. Even though I haven’t unlocked the other ships yet, I already feel like I have freedom in how I play, thanks to the ability to choose your weapon loadout. It makes each run feel like it belongs to you, not just a repeat of the last one. Tight controls, great atmosphere, and just enough freedom to make every decision feel like it matters. Hopeless Sea really nails that sweet spot. Highly recommend it, whether you're a longtime shmup fan or just looking for something that lets you play your way. And with that I think I have found my go to shmup game!!
