TEXT-BASED strategy business management simulation
NO GRAPHICS
MINIMAL SOUND
If you are new to the Hollywood Mogul games, please don't make a $300 million sci-fi epic the moment the game's installed. Hollywood Mogul 4 is a fairly complex business management simulation.
Make a few smaller movies first at Difficulty Level 1. Give yourself some time to understand the attribute rating nuances for Visual Effects and Story Scope, genre, and character development, pace, plot twists, sub-plots, and Set Design. Not to mention how those things will relate to the Director's ratings in Perfectionist and Script As Written, On-Budget, and Effects, as well as if it's better to cast the lead role with a talent that has a high Sex Appeal rating but a low Humility rating because their Screen Presence is a little lacking.
Also, the necessary Advertising Budget will bankrupt your studio.
So please don't make a $300 million sci-fi epic right off the bat.
o Choose from more than 100 genres.
o Include Additional Villains like weather, or fire, or insect infestations.
o Set advertising budgets.
o Make movies released in theaters around the world, or straight to a streaming service.
o Make Series up to 24 episodes with 30, 60, 90, or 120 minute running times.
o Choose projects from more than 10,000 source material records, or use your own ideas.
o Hire a Talent to act, and also as Director and/or Writer.
o Audition actors from more than 8,000 talent records.
o Follow talent with Stats that increase and decrease.
o Hire your favorite talent now, before a box office smash increases their salary.
o Identify Potential Conflicts between the director you hire and the talent you cast in Perfection rating and Script As Written rating. And deal with the Production Problem cost overruns if they don't get along. Because who knows, it might be lightning in a bottle.
o Look for that elusive green dollar sign ($) that tells you the $10 million dollar movie star loves your project so much they're willing to work for just $350,000. Plus a heap of points on the back end.
o Win Awards for movies and series
o Set character role attributes and add or delete roles.
o Set production budgets, add Stunts, and Visual Effects or Creature Effects, and shoot in one city or a dozen cities around the world.
o Sign contracts with manufacturers for project merchandise.
o Set your project in a Universe with other projects.
o Create Franchises.
o Create Cross-over projects from Franchises or Universes and mix and match roles and talent from every project you've already released.
o Create Traditional sequels, Spin Off sequels, and IP sequels.
o Using HM4 Talent or HM4 Source you can now merge databases. You no longer have to create a 10,000 record database all by yourself.
Play Hollywood Mogul 4 and run your own Hollywood movie studio.

This game Is awesome and addictive, the fact that it's just a basic UI with no sound doesn't really make it boring or anything (at least for me) because the game is actually more streamlined than the previous iterations while still having the same depth and much more. Probably the best movie making tycoon game available at the moment, would definitely raccomend.
UI is horrible. Older versions much better. Unplayable for me. Asked for refund.
This is a fun game. this fills a place that not other game has reached (maybe because this is the 3rd game i have played in this series) It isnt supposed to be a 3d graphical mastery game, that will make your eyes bleed. You can make movie universes, franchises and limited TV runs. People are making there own talent files, to bring something else into the game. This is the type of game, you can play in small sessions, or in huge day long sessions. I am so glad this game is a thing. The owner is very active on the forums, and discord. and active in solving any issues that come up with in the game

One of the greatest series of games I have played, I have been with the franchise for 20+ years. The ultimate tycoon simulator, in incredible depth. First learned about this from Home of the Underdogs (HotU) -- IYKYK.
I cannot recommend this game enough. My first experience with the Hollywood Mogul series was HM3, more than a decade ago. It was an amazing game. Everything under the hood had so much depth and realism. I played that game for years (literally!). And this one? Well, Hollywood Mogul 4 is even better. The solo developer spent years working on it as a labour of love, and it shows. The dev is constantly in contact with the community (do make sure to join the very active discord channel), solving the occasional bug almost immediately, addressing our requests for QoL features, and discussing future updates to improve an already amazing game that could function as a finished product as it is. Also, the game has a bunch of very interesting and enriching new features that elevate it to a new level. Just to name 2 of the most important ones: you can make TV series of all kinds and formats; and you can send your productions directly to streaming. But there is a whole plethora of improvements. The UI is nothing to write home about, but it does its job rather well, which is to allow us to interact with all the depth of the game and of the movie-making industry it simulates. When you have such a good game, you really don't need the flashy graphics of larger studios. If graphics are important for your enjoyment of business sims, I do not suggest this game. The community is already working on a real-world database with real Hollywood talent. When it is done, the game will become even more enjoyable and immersive. Have you ever wondered which movies would you make if tomorrow you were appointed the head of a Hollywood Studio? Well, wonder no more. With this game you can come as close to it as possible. With some luck and a whole lot of skill, Hollywood is there for the taking. I really like this game and I hope my review helps you decide if it is the kind of game you would also enjoy.
Solid version of the game. It is exactly what the developer gave for a description. Hopefully he releases DLC's with added features in the future.
It may look simple but it's probably the best movie based management game/simulation I've played, I've always heard great things about the series and now after finally playing one of the games, I understand why. And I have to give credit to the dev for helping me and fixing my accessibility issue!
The game is solid. The thing that makes it is the options to make the text and background any colour or size. For me, a guy with sight problems, that's key. The game itself is kind of addictive. The only downside is that the database is all USA based persons.
This is an awesome game for anyone who loves movies. It’s the perfect balance between having enough content while also not being too overwhelming and I also enjoy how moddable it is.
Deep and fun movie company simulator, with a great community in which the developer is very active as well.
