If you can get it on sale for like two bucks it's fine for a dozen hours or so, which is how long it takes to win with every faction available. But, Hexarchy is fundamentally flawed in some strange ways that are probably never going to be fixed. One of the most glaring is the way that creating a new game works. You don't get to choose how many players are in a game. Just, roughly how large the map is, and whether you want players to spawn with a couple hexes of breathing room or be stuck stacked on top of each other. Then the game will randomly generate the terrain, and spawn however many players it can fit on the board. Depending on how many impassible mountain tiles the game generates and the ratio of land to water, you could be in a game with five opponents or just one, and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it. Even with the largest map options the most players I've ever seen it spawn is 5 or 6, despite there being 13 civs available to play with. The second is the way scoring works. You see, the way the game plays by default, the game ends after a mere 20 turns, or after a player accumulates at least 100 points, which can be earned by pops, land, wonders, all the usual 4x type stuff. The thing is that in most matches, reaching 100+ points is done by 10-12. The longest 'marathon' game setting increases the irrelevant turn limit from 20 to 25 and the score threshold from 100 to 200... which is achieved usually around turn 12-15. This means that the normal game takes about 60 minutes to play and the marathon game mode that's supposed to let you take things at a slower pace and explore the full tech tree is over in 65 or 70 minutes instead and feels the exact same as the normal pace. There are some ideas to like about Hexarchy, including the fusion of civ-esque nationbuilding with deckbuild mechanics. But, the way the game is built, you can spend gold to draw cards in a turn as often as you have gold to spend, which effectively nullifies the concept of having a shuffled deck after the first few turns. This also means that the only bit of RNG that does matter is whether you draw your settler on turn 1, when you're not allowed to play it, or on turn 2, when you can. This 50/50 coinflip at the start of each game decides the entire course of the game, which you have pretty much no control over. Cool! If you want a 4x style board game with deckbuilding elements, the tragically abandoned Nexus 5X (formerly Stellaris Nexus) is a much better game than this is. Normally, both 4x games and board games are all about flexibility, allowing you to customize rules and adjust player counts and etc to craft the experience you want to play. Hexarchy HAS options, but none of them feel impactful. The game feels the same every time you play it, which is bad both by 4x standards and by deckbuilding card game standards. Let me pick who and how many other civs will be on the map. Let me play on MUCH larger maps. Split the victory conditions for score and turn limit into two separate options that can be adjusted individually or turned off entirely, so the game only ends through conquest. The max the points requirement should be able to go to is at least triple what it currently is, and that threshold should be increased on the current game modes as well so that more games last the full duration instead of being cut short. I want to make these tweaks. I can't. Why can't I?

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

This game has been one of my most pleasant gaming surprises in a decade. It lives up to the developer's promises: quick to learn, yet takes some time to master even one civ among the many, so the play remains fresh with repeated play. The Devs are responsive and courteous. And, they have developed, not simply a good and intuitive-to-play game, but also a well designed community participation format, wherein the several weekly and daily challenges see a good sized player base, not to mention the h2h arena. I didn't understand the recent emphatic thumbs down, until I noticed that the bulk had very little play time. This game is worth your time.
Borderline good game. Potential to be a great game. But it's not something I would recommend as is. The game is a hyper-symplistic version of Civ V. A great concept. And for the most part, this does it well. Clean intuitive design. Fun premise with the cards for developing and building. But the two big issues I had with the game is: - the complete absence of diplomacy you are in perpetual war with the other civilizations. There are no allies, no enemies, just war (with an option for teams at the beginning... so not JUST war); - and the duration of a game, even at the longer game options the game is over in 30 minutes to an hour; that's just too fast for a strategy game of this sort. - (MINOR beef that the game stops in the early modern era, but that's a stylistic decision I would otherwise live with) I would totally revisit this game if those issues are addressed. There's a lot of potential here. And I will buy from this developer again. But I would not recommend this game. Not in it's current state.
I much disliked the graphical style and the interface.
Cool concept and it kinda works but has little to no replayability. Buy on sale, or dont.
It's kind of a short form 4x with deck building instead of standard open actions. It's interesting for shorter games, which they were targeting, and my kid has been enjoying learning some Civ basics from it. The deck building limits you but in an interesting way, in a smaller kind of scoped game, but it still feels very Civilization.
The core gameplay loop is good. However, the games end too soon, the game warns that we could experience degrading performance... and we do, the bot turns are a lot longer, and sometimes the game freezes for a few seconds. The game isn't that complicated, there's not a lot happening on screen. @developer, please do better.
Your tutorial sucks ass. If there even is a tutorial. Maybe I will try again, but who knows. You gave ZERO instruction of what I should be doing. Good job and teaching nothing.
