Reviews
I recently have gotten addicted to incremental and auto battler games, I saw this when checking what was upcoming and it came out later that day so tried the demo and had to buy to see what extra content is in the game with that being said here is my review and how it compares to the demo. I start each run going for ramp in my node choices, so Id start of slow having to skip fights in exchange for gold which lead to the game getting a bit difficult but once the ramp was fully online it was very easy there got to a point where I was unkillable which whilst giving a sense of dopamine for character progression did get boring after a bit never on the first run I got all node points just for the sake of it to see if I unlocked anything else and apart from some options at the end theres no point essentially. there is currently 2 classes whilst the demo offers 1 there is hardly any way to build the characters apart from a couple of talent points the rogue class seemed to not really vary on talents but the techie class exclusive to the full game has 2 completely different builds which I found fun. The core gameplay loop is fun but 90 percent if not more is in the demo apart from the hero agency and a couple of random encounters theres not alot of difference but for just over 6 GBP its hard to complain if the game is going to get more updates as time goes on. The game does add replayability in the fact that when you complete a run you can choose some permeant upgrades Pros - Fun game play loop - Good character sense of progression. - Quick runs - Can run on a potato Cons - Whilst there on ingame achievements apart from when you unlock them you cant see them in any menus what I could find or on steam. - Once figured out the game its very easy and can get stale. - Not very different to demo could essentially just play the demo at this point and play the full game Overall if you have a spare bit of cash and looking for a nice incremental game to kill a few hours id recommend however if pondering if worth the money would advise to just play the demo (progression from demo does carry over to full game) overall id give Story - 2/10 (hardly any) Graphics - 8/10 (for its art style) Gameplay - 7/10 (fun for a whole run or two) Optimisation - 10/10 (never had a issue) Replay ability - 5/10 (some but can get boring) Overall 6.4

HeroInc tells the story of a young hero trying to defeat the villains in the city. However, it doesn’t offer any particularly impressive storytelling nor is that its goal anyway. HeroInc’s main goal is to provide players with a fast-paced, fluid gameplay experience. We can use the skill tree to level up our character. The skill tree isn’t complicated it’s filled entirely with passive skills. Each playthrough offers you different options, and you progress through the game based on your own choices. With the fear system, if you see the public’s fear level and it reaches its maximum, the game ends. This gives you the freedom to strategize within the game. The combat system is somewhat similar to that of Punch Club since it’s a combat system I’m familiar with from a game I enjoy, I didn’t have any trouble with it. HeroInc turned out to be a game I really liked.
The game delivers a tight core loop and beautifully crafted pixel animations. It easily hooks you for a solid few hours before the novelty fades. However, strategic choices are thin. The lack of build variety and static build orders mean most runs play out exactly the same. It does what it does well, but don't expect deep replayability. Zero issues on Linux.
You start on the upgrade tree screen, where your first and only viable purchase is to become a hero. Buying this upgrade reveals all adjacent ones, making progression through the tree similar to most incremental games out there. You keep uncovering new upgrades by purchasing the ones that have just become available. Some upgrades can be bought once, while others can be purchased several times. This is important because further upgrades on the same branch require you to max out all previous upgrades. What’s unique is how you gain currency for upgrades. You do this by spending action points within a single day on different actions. You can work for money, which then lets you buy upgrades, or train and fight criminals around the city. Training lets you increase damage, speed, or health points, and you can spend all your daily points on any of the three as many times as you want. Training carries over across days, so nothing is lost, but it doesn’t give you any resources. Unless, of course, you fight criminals, which is vital. There are several of them each day, and if you manage to beat them all, you decrease the fear level in the city, which can reach 100. Battles are automatic, and success depends on your stats. You gain coins and other unique materials from winning. But if you fail and end a day with even one criminal left, the fear level goes up. The amount depends on the number of enemies. Besides coins, you gain stars from beating enemies and gems from chests rewarded for a win. As you move through the upgrade tree, some upgrades will require both stars and coins. As you go even further, you’ll reach unique upgrades that require gems. These upgrades are the best because they add various features and unlock further hero abilities. Chances are, you will soon get overwhelmed with enemies and hit the fear limit. This resets everything you’ve gained during your run and sends you back to square one. The only thing you gain is unique gems that let you buy certain items offering permanent perks, such as more damage at the start of a run or more money at the end of each day. But sadly, these perks are bad and don’t give you much reason to start another run, which will likely also end in failure. The majority of them simply give you a few extra points toward individual stats such as damage and health, and there’s nothing that would make the next run significantly easier. You’re pretty much forced to suffer through countless defeats and attempts that you already know are doomed to fail until you manage to buy every permanent perk. You gain one gem every 10 days, so you can grind for them, but it’s still a bad design choice.
While it was a good game, everything worked.. it was wayyy to easy. Once I understood it, I never died...and beat the boss with ease.. You snowball pretty damn quickly in this game
Honestly, I wasn't sure what to expect going into this. I was pleasantly surprised and I genuinly enjoy this. Thank you devs for the key, I will be making coverage tomorrow but I wanted to try it out. I honestly can say I am in love with this game. It's a fun little incremental game. It can be VERY punishing. I will say that. Mid level Enemies can really put the hurt on you in the early runs of the game. I have only done two runs so far but this is a game that I will be able to keep playing for a long while. Great job Devs!
