Help Thomas the Allergic Mailman gather all his lost letters in this challenging and unique 2D platformer! In Hayfever, the player takes control of Thomas – a young postman with a strong work ethic. There is just one tiny little issue… Thomas suffers from terrible (and we mean TERRIBLE) allergies.

Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.43/day in the week to Aug 23 → 0/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
Platformer Mediocrity Par Excellence
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Introduction & Premise
Hayfever is a 2D Platformer developed by Pixadome and published by Silver Lining Interactive. In it you play a fever-stricken mailman, who has accidentally managed to sneeze all of his letters away. The levels consist of you hunting down the itinerant letters with your co-worker, Charlie, before your boss realizes and fires you. The gameplay consists of you using sneeze-empowered jumps, launches and dashes to beat various levels and collect all letters within them. Occasionally you’ll stumble across pollen that infuses your sneezes with even more power, replenishes your sneezes mid-air and/or grants special abilities.
The Myriad Flaws
The game starts at 10000% volume, even after changing in-game volume, the intro is unaffected. There are games that start at full volume, and they start loud. Then there’s Hayfever. I think I should’ve gotten a partial refund just for the potential hearing damage the first launch of game may have contributed to, as well as the potential damage to the headphones (the sound is actively distorted due to how loud it is). I’ll say this for the milionth time, and I’ll say it till the end of the world:
Dear devs, please start all of your games at 1-5% volume on all sliders. It’s healthier to adjust from too quiet to louder than from too loud to quieter. Sincerely, a gamer who is sick and tired of this one constant issue across 95% of games and wants to still hear something by the time they’re 60.
The game suffers from terrible input inconsistencies and input lag. The inconsistencies are especially bad, but are not limited to, the diagonals. The general sound design is bad: sounds are annoying and repetitive (no variations on repetitious and sometimes slightly too long sounds). The original soundtrack ranges from okay to grating. Foreground sprites are amateurish and look like they’re from an entirely different game than the background for some reason. Lastly, the game also enjoys employing plenty of off-screen elements that can only feasibly be reacted to once you know they're there and once the controls decide to play along, leading to plenty cheap deaths
Conclusion
So now I’m sitting here, having beaten the first 30 levels, bored out of my mind, with a massive headache due to having to endure the menagerie of inconsistencies and mediocrities, as well as the sonic blast of the intro three times, while I tinkered with the audio.
Please don’t support mediocrity like this!
A finely crafted platformer/allergy simulator with a happy-go-lucky vibe. The main character propels himself around by sneezing, with different types of pollen affecting his movement. This is an inspired, simple mechanic that stays fresh throughout the whole game. Levels vary massively in pacing, ranging from slow and cerebral to high-octane twitch festivals. Unsurprisingly, Hayfever shares a lot in common with Celeste. You die in one hit, and have an 8-way dash as your main means of traversal. Thankfully, this game manages to push the premise further, and overall it feels like a natural evolution rather than a knock-off. There's also some influence from older Nintendo titles (Wario Land, Donkey Kong Country). Graphics are vibrant (although some tiles are arranged in a manner that feels clinical/mechanical) and the upbeat accordion-led music is excellent too. Overall, this is well worth the money if you're looking for an imaginative platformer with a fair amount of challenge. It could do with more exposure too - I only found out about this game because I follow Horheristo on Youtube, and he generally plays good ♥♥♥♥.
Hayfever, developed by Pixadome and published by Silver Lining Interactive, is a precision platformer that cleverly transforms a character’s debilitating seasonal allergies into a core gameplay mechanic. You play as Thomas, an unfortunate but determined postman who loses all his letters due to an intense sneeze. What might have been a quirky backstory in another game becomes the foundation for a unique and inventive set of platforming mechanics, as Thomas uses his various allergic reactions as unconventional superpowers to navigate a series of increasingly difficult levels. The game’s core concept revolves around different types of allergens—pollen, smog, peanuts, and more—each affecting Thomas in specific ways that grant him temporary abilities. For example, pollen allows Thomas to build up sneeze energy that propels him through the air like a jet, while other allergens can cause him to float, stick to surfaces, or dash through obstacles. These mechanics are introduced gradually and then layered together, requiring players to master how each allergy interacts with different environments. It's a fresh twist that not only gives the game a unique identity but also demands creative thinking and quick reflexes as levels grow more complex. Hayfever’s level design reflects a clear understanding of the platforming genre’s roots, with over 140 levels spread across four seasonally themed worlds. Each world presents its own hazards and visual flavor, from the pollen-heavy spring fields to the icy, slippery surfaces of winter. The levels are short but tightly designed, often requiring pinpoint timing and precise execution to clear. While the main path through the game can be completed without collecting every letter, the optional challenge of retrieving all 240 scattered envelopes adds a significant layer of difficulty for those who enjoy mastering each level. The satisfaction of nailing a perfect run through a particularly challenging sequence is one of the game’s most rewarding experiences. The controls are generally tight and responsive, which is crucial in a game where timing is everything. However, the difficulty can spike abruptly, especially in later stages or when attempting to complete optional objectives. Certain allergen-based mechanics, particularly the sneeze jet, can feel unpredictable at times, making some sections feel more frustrating than fun. These inconsistencies in control can lead to a trial-and-error style of gameplay, which might turn off players looking for a more forgiving platforming experience. Still, for those who enjoy games like Super Meat Boy or Celeste, the challenge presented here is familiar and likely welcome. Visually, Hayfever embraces a vibrant pixel art style that complements its whimsical tone. Each world has a distinct color palette and environmental design that reinforces its seasonal theme. The animations are smooth and full of personality, giving Thomas and his allergens a charming expressiveness. The game’s soundtrack is lighthearted and catchy, enhancing the mood without distracting from the intense concentration often required during platforming. Sound effects are functional, though they can become repetitive over long play sessions, especially in levels that require multiple replays. What Hayfever does particularly well is its commitment to its central concept. Rather than just using allergies as a narrative gimmick, the game weaves them deeply into every aspect of its mechanics and level design. This commitment gives the game a unique identity in a crowded indie platformer space. However, it also exposes some limitations. The novelty of the allergen mechanics can wear thin after extended play, especially if players find themselves struggling with the same tricky sections repeatedly. The lack of variety in enemy types and level hazards outside of the core allergy-based interactions also means that, despite its visual diversity, the gameplay loop can feel repetitive in the long run. Despite its challenges, Hayfever is a commendable effort from a small team that delivers a creative and engaging platformer with a quirky sense of humor and a high skill ceiling. It’s not the most polished or expansive game in the genre, but it stands out thanks to its unique mechanics and dedication to a singular idea. For players who enjoy demanding platformers and are willing to embrace a few frustrating moments in exchange for satisfying gameplay, Hayfever offers a rewarding and memorable experience. It’s a game that asks you to embrace its weirdness, sneeze your way through adversity, and deliver those letters—no matter how many times you crash trying. Rating: 8/10
Quick Description: -Hayfever is an adorable but tough as nails precision platformer. You play as a cute mailman that sneezes his way around extremely challenging platforming gauntlets. There's a ton of charm here, although it's quite rough around the edges. What's Good: -This looks like a very casual, cute platformer, but it is much more challenging than what you would expect. I think this is probably it's greatest strength. You will challenged pretty quickly, especially after the first set of 30 levels. I'd say that Hayfever is far tougher than the average game in this genre, although everything is manageable w/ enough practice. -There is a good amount of content here. There are 4 worlds and 140+ levels. I only completed about 2/3 of the game and didn't collect all of the optional pieces of mail. Collecting all the mail offers the greatest challenge in the game. You will probably need to put in at least 10-15 hrs in order to finish up everything. -I'm a sucker for pixel art and Hayfever has solid pixel art. Each set of levels has a different theme and focuses on different colors and textures. All of the characters involved in the story are all adorable and have very detailed pixel art as well. -Each world has a final boss which will be quite a challenge. Some bosses are complex chase scenes while others are standard boss battles where you'll need to memorize their movement patterns. The bosses are well designed and offer a fun challenge. Could Use Some Changes: -I noticed that the dash button felt a bit inconsistent. dashing while moving on the ground works like a charm. However, whenever you jump and dash at the same time, the dash button felt far less reliable. I always felt that I had to really hold down the direction and dash button really hard. Trying to quickly change directions is not as smooth as I would like. -It's quite rough around the edges. Some levels have some very oddly placed spikes or barriers that are simply there to block you from exiting the platforming sections. Other areas can be hard to even tell visually what the game is asking for within the platforming sections. This didn't happen all the time, but it happened periodically. -I found the gamplay to be slightly repetitive as the major mechanic of sneezing doesn't really evolve. Yes, there are plenty of environmental hazards and fun mechanics introduced, but nothing really groundbreaking or truly innovative. 30 levels per world felt a bit too much. I would have loved an additional world and 20-25 levels per world max. Thoughts: -Hayfever is a fun, challenging, and charming precision platformer that will offer quite the test for even the most seasoned player. There are better games in the genre, but I still think this is very much worth recommending. If you are a fan of the genre, snag this bad boy on a sale and test yourself w/ some hardcore platforming sections. Consensus: -Middle of the Road Game (Tier 4 and makes up 25% of my reviews). I had a good time during my 4-5 hrs playing Hayfever. It didn't rock my world in the way that better games in the genre have, but it was still a really fun experience overall. If you are looking for a nice gem in the rough, snag it right now during the Winter Sale for less than $5 and have a great time.
Met the guy who made it when i was younger and got to try it, remembered it yesterday, bought it, amazing.
I'm not gonna leave a bad review only because I don't think deserves an entire ''DONT BUY IT''. I wish I could give it a 'meh'. The mechanic is nothing new but it's something you don't see many games using and the ways the game explore this single mechanic are actually really good but some of the level design and OMG specially the first and only boss that I fought (the cloud) is TERRIBLE. The lasers are not telegraphed so you don't know when they'll start nor end and the way you need to hit the boss is not obvious at all, actually I did it by accident which is that you have make the big electric ball bounce on the walls so it'll go back to him and hit him. The problem is that most of the times I was on the bottom so the lightning ball would just disappear or I'd be close to the ceiling and it would not bounce back to the boss. Also, the small electric balls don't do anything against it so why does the big one does? But even if this was solved, the boss itself has the worst design type of all video game bosses: WAITING. You have to wait until you can hit them, and that's the most boring and annoying type of boss ever. I'd prefer an enemy that can hit fast but I can also hit them instead of just waiting for whenever they feel like they wanna get hit. Anyway, like I said, the game is not bad by any means, but it's also not great and not even good. Just meh
Hayfever's controls are absolutely abysmal, it's a struggle just moving in the desired direction - and that's if you can even get the game to recognize your inputs, I lost track of how many times I died simply because my character didn't jump when I commanded him to jump. This would be bad enough for most titles but it's an absolute dealbreaker for a precision platformer, I'm genuinely stunned that the game was released with controls this downright terrible. Strong recommendation to avoid.
