Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery

Good, but could be better. I like the game. It’s nice to escape into the world of Hogwarts now and again…BUT I have several complaints. First the energy. It runs out way too quickly and it takes over 2 hours for the energy to refill. Why does it take 4 minutes to gain 1 energy?! It makes it difficult to complete classes/tasks within a short period of game play. And why does some tasks need 8 hours to complete? I don’t always have a lot of time to play and would like to be able to complete classes, tasks, whatever in the time I do have to play. Second is that there aren’t enough clothing or accessory items or even any pets that can be bought with coins you earn. Starting at about year 3 at Hogwarts, I quickly maxed out since you can only have 50,000 coins. I use coins for the Meal with a Friend, dueling, etc. as often as the timers let me, but I max out almost immediately…which means I can’t even bank the coins I continue to earn as I play the game. The last thing I find annoying is the lack of continuity between the main story line and the special adventures. Characters I have already met, I end up “not knowing” and “meeting” in some special adventure. That gets frustrating when I have to expend energy in a segment getting to know that character.

No more energy I have to wait so long to get energy

Fun but keeps crashing I have loved playing this game for year but recently it’s been crashing a ton. Crashes and sends me back to where I was before I started a side quest or a timed thing and now I’m trying to finish it before time runs out but it won’t let me. They need to fix this issue.

I miss this game I love this game and I used to have it but when I got to a certain point It had stuff about boyfriends and girlfriends and love. So my parents made me delete because it was innapropriate major for my age. And I agree because even though I'm older now it is kinda gross. So please take the love dovey stuff out major or at least add a setting where you can not have that that is simple and easy to find. Like a category in settings called Story and a on and off swith for Love dovey stuff. Also there are some glitches. When I played this game once you defeated that villain girl in year two it would glitch and send me to place with all the pets and say I had to feed my pet but I didn't have any. And also when i was in the hallway/corridor it would glitch and not let me into the Ravenclaw room. Anways great game, just a couple of stuff minor that I overexplained major!

It’s so laggy I loved this game spent hours on it and on the challenges, only for it to not load properly: wasting my gems, losing my progress, and using up time I spent on it just for it to not even register. I’m sick of playing a game that deletes all my progress.

A must for potterheads As someone who is an absolute potterhead,I enjoy this app really much. Especially since the Weasleys are to find more later in the game. I recommend this game to anyone wanting to find out more about harry potter!

Energy. The energy system feels pointless aside from being a way to lighten your pockets. The game barely supplies enough energy for anything and the only time it feels playable is with the energy booster. It feels like the developers just want you to empty your pockets as energy just runs out so fast and the only way to get more is tapping stuff that only works like once a day, or waiting 4 minutes for one point. It would be great if energy was removed, or made much easier to obtain.

Major Annoyance I have typically thoroughly enjoyed playing this game! I have spent money on it and have tried to slow down my progress because I have been waiting for the Beyond continuation to become available. But I have STOPPED playing for long stretches TWICE because there is NO WAY to OPT OUT OF the REPLAY ADVENTURES SCREEN! It is something players have done before why is there not an option to not do this again?!? It is ridiculous and they are just going to pop up again and again even if I force the app closed and restart it! This game was practically perfect until you decided to FORCE replaying adventures on me!

What the hell This would honestly be such a great game if it wasn’t for the energy. The time it takes to fill the energy is ridiculous, not to much the difference between main story/lessons/ and side quests. There is NO reason for an option that takes 5 energy to fill up not even a THIRD of the first part of the progress bar. Then we lose our missions/lessons/special quests because of it. The time limits do not reflect the actual meeded time to fill up or get enough of our energy to finish most of these quests. I have no job, and spend all day on my phone, and I still can’t finish the missions most of the time. This is ridiculous. You don’t need to focus on animations anymore, you need to fix these bugs. I have stopped playing the game TWICE because of this. There’s no reason we have to be spending real money or in game gems to rely on finishing these missions. Please do better.

Useless Customer Service Ignore all the responses in these reviews saying to contact customer support if you have technical issues. All customer support does is send canned responses recommending you do what you have already tried. I don’t think they actually read what players write. Now I am unable to even load the game. I have enjoyed the game. I’ve played almost every day since December 2019. I was working on the latest chapter release. There have been innumerable bugs but historically they have been resolved in a day or two. However, I haven’t been able to load the game since last Friday. I have spent considerable time and effort to get the app loaded. Jam City Support just sent one basically canned response in 5 days. I guess I have no choice but to move on. If you are willing to risk all the time, enjoy the game. It is fun. Just realize, if there are any issues Support is superficial so you may not be able to complete the game. Update: The Jam City response is exactly what I expected. Basically canned and superficial. The link recommended goes to the exact same place I already entered a Help request. It took almost 5 days to receive the canned response to my original request. I responded within a couple of hours. It has been more than 48 hours with no response to my follow up. Jam City has personnel to respond to Apple App reviews within a couple of hours. If they were serious about actually helping players, they would similarly respond to help requests. Update 2: After a week, Jam City “applied a manual fix” that allowed me to access the game. The long timeframe meant I was unable to finish challenges, like the Diary, Daily Stamps, etc., and I had to spend a week upgrading my friends and dating levels but I wanted to update the review because the main issue was fixed. The game is still more glitchy than ever - closing unexpectedly or not saving progress. At least I can play.
