A lovely gem of a game. I think I bought it with a humble bundle many years ago, but I've only recently downloaded it. Wow, I wish I had done so long ago - wonderful game!

Halcyon 6 Starbase Commander is a well-designed and interesting resource management game. Pros: +Nice music. +Good pixel art. +Some dialogues and quests are really funny. +Explore station rooms to build various facilities. +You will encounter many random events about space travelling and station facilities. +There are a lot of different tactics which can be used in both of fleet battle and ground battle. +Build your fleet. You can use it to rebuild resource facilities, battle with enemy fleet or accept a quest from other alien races. Cons: -Player can't seize enemy facilities or ships. Only the most friendly alien races will give you some ships in the final battle. -Every option of a space travelling event has only one result. However, the result of an option of a station facility event is totally random. For example, sometimes option A is correct, but next time it will be wrong for the same event.

This is the CLASSIC. Tits. Classic tits. Thumbs up.
Nice little game, well done, enough depth without being a crazy space 4x. Story is basic but functional, tech and builds are simple and streamlined. It's essentially an ultra simple 4x with bit graphics and a resonable campaign length (finished in 26h). I suppose it's reasonably replayable, with acheivement and many difficulty levels, but honestly, 1 play through is plenty for me and clearly justified buying the game. I went in hoping for an FTL style game, and it's not really that at all beyond the theme and visual style. But I still had fun.
This game is great for people who have autism like myself but once you start drinking to balance yourself out you'll come to realize it has some real pacing issues.
The pixel graphics are cute, and the characterization of the various alien races is wonderfully fun. Background music is inoffensive space music, but nothing that really stood out to me. This game really reminds me of XCOM2, because of the idea of a defensive war on a set map against invasive aliens, excavating and building rooms in a base, upgrading gear and researching for better equipment and for story-related reasons, and lots of battles or missions with turn-based action. Where the game falls apart for me is that the battles start to feel too numerous and repetitive after a while. Battles are 3v3, with approximately 3-4 powers per officer, so there's just not that much variety. Furthermore, the enemy starts to show up with giant health bars, but it feels like the damage does not scale to match. This makes battles longer and more annoying, especially because you can't really manage enemies so that they're deleted or otherwise controlled every round - it's just a slug fest.
It's a resource management game with RPG elements set in space. You will usually be in control until a simple mistake derails your entire game. Play the Lightspeed Edition for the best experience. Overall: 3/5
3/10
A lot of character shines through in the art and dialog of this game, but there is a lot of room for improvement. The core of gameplay--battle--becomes pretty repetitive. Beating the game took significantly longer than I originally expected, and the battles became a real grind. I think the goods outweigh the bads, but it could have been a true gem if they had kept a better eye on pacing and put more effort into fleshing out the storylines with each of the other species. All in all, it is a unique game which I enjoyed, but honestly it would have been fine if I quit after the first 6 hours or so before it fell into grind mode.
