too hard

Really good game, got into hacking for real after playing this and accidentally caused all the toilets in my building to overflow, and now I have some kind of rash on my foot that the doctors can't identify.

Although a fun experience, it became very repetitive and felt like a chore pretty fast. Still I had fun, so thumbs up!

Overall there are better games that you can play for a much better experience, especially with the price tag as is. I liked it to start with since it was a very mindless simulator but the late-game and ending are very underwhelming. Also the last type of hack you can do feels very roll-of-the-dice on whether or not you succeed. Would be worth it for like $15 and only if you want a very bare-bones typing simulator

I don't usually write reviews, so bear with me, I have a lot of thoughts. [i](I'll include a TL;DR at the end)[/i] I really wish I could recommend this game and (overall) it is not a horrible experience, however, there are a lot of things that make it very hard to enjoy. I might complete it eventually but i have not done so yet. If there is one thing the game got right - it's the music and the vibe. The environment in nice and I like the overall feel of it. I also respect the fact that the dev did their homework and the game does feature some real-life commands and scenarios, however, it is VERY limited and repetitive, which leads to the game becoming an automated grindfest after a while. It takes maybe 1-2 minutes per task because you just type in the same 5 commands in the same order [b]every time[/b] and if you get proficient enough with the TAB key, it cuts down the time even more. There is almost no variety in the tasks and even in the way they are written. If the different customers at least had some quirks to their texts it would have helped with immersion [b]a lot[/b]. After an hour the messages become a blur and feel like opening a spam folder, not discord. (It also feels weird to have a supposed hacker group contact you by writing "Yo, get me an account from this IP".) In addition to that, there is barely any variety in the usernames. you just see the same customers over and over again. Delivery/shopping system just sucks. Really sucks. For whatever reason you can't order more than one item at a time even if you have the money. Which is not only unrealistic but also daunting because the delivery time is very long and the tasks are not long/engaging enough to keep you busy. Moreover, when you get to the [spoiler]card skimming[/spoiler] part the tutorial quest requires you to wait for at least [b]four deliveries[/b] to be completed before you can finally complete a task from the new group. The tutorial is... confusing. I'm not sure how i feel about the tutorial being so reliant on the help section in the pause menu. It's good to provide a cheatsheet but a "learn by doing" approach would have been better. Some of the instructions are also incomplete. For example, the game won't tell you where certain files (dumps) are downloaded, so you have to go and [i]somehow[/i] find them yourself. The pacing. This game is slow. So slow, that at some point I thought that it was intentionally bloated to avoid refunds (which I hope is not the case). Slow cracks, slow deliveries, slow tutorial quests that just halt your progress for no reason. The difficulty is very low. I expected something more going into the game. As I've said, it gets very grindy and automatic. Just turn off your brain and type away. There is a supposed timer on the connection/wi-fi but it takes an impossibly long time for it to run out. Maybe the game does pick up later on but so far it was very non-threatening. There is also no real punishment for failing a job/hacking into a random server/workstation. The game would have benefitted from having some counter-hacking minigames or random events. The UI is alright but could be better. It has some weird scaling and I wish I could resize the windows for differrent apps. It would also be nice to have more options for graphics and audio (the caller is so quiet that you can't hear him over the music). And if you want a more enjoyable hacking sim experience, [spoiler] I highly recommend checking out Hacknet! [/spoiler] It's clear that there is a lot of room for improvement for this dev and for a first project it's a pretty good start! However, please focus more on the gameplay aspects in your new projects :)
