Graphics weren't great, even on my old Windows Mixed Reality headset. The benches were flickery. The outside looked too green and cartoony and low detail, which is fine if it was just window dressing, for the castle being the main event..... nope. You can stand in front of a flower bed and turn your head back and forth, with your eyes fixed, and you can see the flowers rendering and unrendering right before your eyes, depending on the angle of youer head. The castle looks even worse, with low res textures that look like they JUST about to load in and clear up, but no, that's as good as they're going to get. This is especially bad around edges (look out any window). The author should clarify that "God Mod" doesn't let you fly or do anything godlike....it just lets you look down at the village below and click on one of the labeled areas. On the bright side, the controls were fantastic on WMR, with smooth turning being the default. You can turn the obnoxious footstep volume down as well, which was a welcome feature. It's good, but I was looking for a nice "1st VR Experience" for my mother in law (something like VR Museum of Fine Art, but where you can play sitting and rotate with the stick, like this). Sadly, this did not quite make the grade. Even with all the settings cranked, it still looked average/not great. The narration is a nice touch and well done. If I were more interested in history and less interested in wowing someone with how real VR can be, I would probably appreciate it a lot more, so if you like castles, go for it. It's basically a crappy one-room castle, so keep your expectations low.

good
This is probably the worst VR experience/game I played until now regarding perfomance/bugs. In my setup w Quest 2 with link cable or airlink I had several problems, from hicups, freezing (even freezing my quest2), to delayed audio and artifects after go on top of the tower. Even playing on low/medium with RTX 3070, Ryzen 7 5700x (Both CPU and GPU without OC), M2 SSD, 32GB, Windows 11 and Oculus OS updated I had problems. I dont know if this is a problem with AMD processors or what, because the specs does not include AMD CPU...Even with resolution 1x or auto the game freezes for me, it freezes Steam VR in a way that I have to close on the computer because my Quest 2 becomes unresponsive. Other games works fine, only this one I have problems. If the game does not had these problems I could recommend, only because it is free.
Taken aback by how much information and just ground to cover in general this experience has. Well done.
Let me Eldrad Wolfsbane (creator of Back to the Dungeon RPG) the unofficial Wizard of the OSR, I give this App Gilford Castle, THE highest rating that a historical VR app can have! IF you have a VR System then you MUST download this! It is perfection! It is a trip to the UK and a tour that you will eventually HAVE to take in real life! I am making plans now to go there!
Just fantastic.
nice experience
Piece of crap. Supposedly you can click a menu button and go into "GodMode", doesn't work. It's a shame, love history, seemed like a good idea, but has bad implementation.
