GTA IV has aged weirdly because some parts feel old, but other parts somehow still feel better than newer open world games. The best part for me is easily the story and atmosphere. Niko is probably one of the best GTA protagonists. He actually feels like a real person instead of just a crazy guy you control. The story is darker and more serious than GTA V, but it still has that classic GTA humor. Liberty City also feels insanely alive. Even just driving around at night while listening to the radio has a vibe that GTA V never really gave me. The physics are also still amazing. Cars actually have weight, NPCs react naturally, and crashes feel way less scripted. The driving definitely takes some getting used to though. Cars feel like boats at first, but after playing for a while I actually started liking it. My biggest problem is the PC port. The game is old and yet it can still have random stutters, FPS drops, freezes, or crashes on newer PCs. It's kind of ridiculous considering how old the game is. The controls can also feel clunky sometimes, especially the cover system. But ignoring the technical problems, GTA IV is genuinely one of Rockstar's best games. Great story, memorable characters, amazing atmosphere, fun physics, and probably my favorite version of Liberty City. It isn't perfect, but there's really nothing else that feels exactly like GTA IV. 9/10 - cousin, let's go bowling.
