About
Giblings is a real-time brawler for up to six players in a destructible combat arena. Dig through the ground, raise new ground of your own, and swing across it all on a grappling hook. Inspired by the 1998 game Liero.
Giblings comes with six hand-built maps, each designed to play a little differently.
Some are made up of floating platforms, with a mix of indestructible rock and destructible soil. Expect a lot of fighting in mid-air as everyone swings around on grappling hooks and tries not to fall into whatever horrible thing is underneath.
Others are packed solid with soil, so you can tunnel through the map and fight underground. Some have hazards running through them too, including lava, acid, and water that you can sink into and drown in.
Pick your favourite at the start of a custom game, or let the game choose one for you.
Check the screenshots for examples of these maps.
Jump into 1v1, 2v2 or free-for-all through Find Game, or make your own custom game and split up to six players however you like. Go 3v3, mix players and bots together, or try 5v1 if you think you're good enough.
If you just want to get into a game, choose what you're willing to play and hit Find Game. Giblings handles the rest, finding a suitable match for you and your party. If you'd rather see what's out there yourself, you can browse open games instead.
Want control over everything? Create a custom game and choose the map, teams, bots, game mode, pickups, friendly fire and other match settings yourself. Each slot can be left open for another player, closed completely, or filled with an Easy or Hard bot.
While everyone is getting ready, there's a firing range built right into the lobby, so you can jump around and practise with your loadout instead of staring at a waiting screen. There's also lobby chat for anyone who joins.
Bots fill empty slots and take over for players who leave, so a good match doesn't have to fall apart because someone's Wi-Fi does.
You can also party up with your Steam friends before you play. Invite them straight from the game, then take the whole party into matchmaking or your own custom lobby. Your party stays together from one match to the next.
Better still, Find Game keeps searching in the background. Go play against bots, run through training or tweak your character while you wait. When a match is ready, you're ready too.
Deathmatch, Elimination or Battle Royale. Free-for-all or teams.
Battle Royale is similiar to Worms's "Sudden Death" mode, where in the game the water, acid or lava is constantly rising at regular beats to keep you moving. Just to keep the water dangerous there are some sharks that are in the water as well, because why not?

There is also a "Sniper war" and "Ninja mode" custom setting -- the ability to restrict weapons in the game. By default it's whatever loadout you picked, but in our beta playtesting many found it more fun to limit the game to snipers only, or to just katanas and shurikens. We added some ninja cosmetics too that activate just for the latter to make things fun.
Can't find anyone online? Find Game can keep searching in the background while you play Single Player.
Bot Arena is Giblings multiplayer, minus the other humans. Set up a full match offline, choose your map and opponents, and fill the other slots with Easy or Hard bots.
The bots don't all play the same way. Some hang back and snipe, some hunt down whoever's low on health, while others would rather come swinging straight at you. They have their own loadouts and play styles, so a match full of bots can get just as chaotic.
If you're still getting the hang of things, Basics Training is a quick introduction to movement, digging, building, combat and the grappling hook, all in the service of the very important task of rescuing a princess. It only takes a few minutes, then you're on your own.
Weapons Training gives you the entire arsenal to mess around with, including rare drops like the Flamethrower and Gravity Bomb. Spawn opponents of different difficulties whenever you need something to test a weapon on, or just work your way through all 28 and see what they do.
There's also a procedural map generator for when you want something different. Generate islands surrounded by water, acid or lava, or cavernous underground maps for a more classic Liero-style fight. Choose the map size and tweak things like the amount of soil, rock, liquid and other terrain, or leave the settings random and see what comes out. Maps are generated from a seed, so if you find a good one, you can generate it again later.
Procedurally generated maps are single-player only for now.

Before a match, build your loadout with up to ten weapons chosen from 21. You can save a few different loadouts too, so you might have one for open maps, another for digging underground, and another for whatever terrible idea you're currently committed to.
Picked the wrong one? Switch loadouts whenever you like and you'll spawn with the new one on your next life.
Then there are the rare weapons. Things like the Flamethrower, Gravity Bomb and a Bee Jar can drop during a match. They don't replace anything in your loadout. Rare weapons have their own rack, and you can carry up to three at once.
Every weapon has limited ammo, but there's no running around looking for ammunition. Put an empty weapon away and it'll reload itself after a short wait.
Yes, the bees reload too.

Pick from four different Giblings, then make yours look suitably ridiculous.
Each one has their own set of cosmetic options, with different hair, headwear and other bits to choose from. You can change their colours too, so there should be no confusion over which Gibling just fell into the lava.
Giblings is a solo project. If something is broken there is one person to tell, and he reads everything.
