Awesome addition to the series, the only thing I want to see fixed is the maps being too defender sided.
It has playable realism where you have the one shot death milsim LARP but you dont have to run much if at all to get into a gunfight.
All of the guns being immediately unlocked is such a nice change. A bunch of improvements across the board make this a worthy entry into the Blackmill WW1 games. Of particular note are the 'stressed' hand movements and gestures of your soldier when suppressed. The slower reload animation during this is quite nice as well. Turkish names being accurate are a lovely inclusion. I also really like how some maps force the attacker to get in boats and push the objective, either to start the match off or mid-way through. It's a nice break from trenches and emphases snipers and other infantry to lay down supporting fire. I've had one bug so far, where I went to revive a teammate and he left mid-revive which locked my poor Aussie, 18 (possibly younger if he lied) year old just walking around refusing to switch off from the bandages. Bit annoying but it is still early days. The opening 25 percent off discount is welcome, too. Overall a fun game and I look forward to grinding it and future expansions
WW1: Gallipoli is a fantastic shooter; a worthy successor to Isonzo and a natural addition to a series I only discovered myself not too long ago. It’s a game stubborn enough to swim against the tide of Battlefields and Call of Dutys, and it does so with flying colours. The production quality is excellent, especially the sound design. It’s absolutely fantastic. You hear shells screaming overhead, followed by explosions, debris flying everywhere and dust filling the air, complete with some gorgeous shadow effects. It all adds up to some seriously impressive immersion. The game feels great to play, too, and the weapons have a proper sense of weight to them. I think it looks gorgeous as well, although admittedly my standards aren’t exactly sky-high in that department: when I play shooters, they’re usually "boomer shooters". Hell, I still play UT99 and Quake Live every week. Just like the other WW1 games, I prefer playing Gallipoli against bots whenever possible. That’s right: I’m old and I suck. I realise I’m probably missing out on a fair chunk of what these games have to offer by playing them that way, but honestly, it’s more than enough for me. Great work, BlackMill Games! I’m really looking forward to seeing where the roadmap takes us next.
Still some bugs and balancing to fix but the game is pretty good. New mechanics and maps take a bit of time to understand and learn
