Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Aug 4 → 0/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Rather dated 4x game that is just alright, but considering how many better games there are in the genre I'd rather recommend against playing it unless you already played everything else similar and need some variety.
Galactic bore fest am I right?
The original and IMO still the best version. It is simple and fun. What I like best is not being artificially constrained by the number of buildings I can build on a planet.

Let me clear a few things up, the game works on Windows 10. I did not need to turn on Compatibility mode. Date is 5/18/2025. 5600x, 32 gigs of ram, 6650xt. I played the game and owned it on a different platform. Game is good. I enjoyed it. It is dated. Get it on sale.
I didn't seem to have any issue getting it to work on W11. Very simple compared to it's contemporaries like Civilization 3. Somewhere between Civ 1 and 2 in complexity. It's... interesting. But from what I can tell lacks replayability. I don't see much reason to play it to be honest. And from searches online, it doesn't appear to have much of a fanbase to speak of.

Tested on Win10. It works fine. But this is too old school for me after GC2 :D. GC2 is still a good game that holds its own today. GC1 is only good for seeing where it started.
----------------------------------- I've played Galactic Civilizations III and I must say that, as with other famous strategy games, where it's usually better to play the newer versions, this game is quite outdated. A lot of people on Steam said that I couldn't run the game, but here it worked fine, but after playing GC III on a subscription service (before I had the game on Steam), playing this version is a huge downgrade, and I'm not just talking about the graphics and interface. Save your money and time and play a newer version of the franchise.
Ignore all these silly children hating the game because it is old. It is a classic and quite fun.
This is a great game. Not only do you command the military but you direct economic resources. Choose wisely!
