This game was played late one night, when we were bored and had nothing else. We loaded this game on a silly recommendation. I would say we did not have a good time but that would be a lie, an immense amount of fun. Yes, the menu is a bit janky, yes the game play is janky. But that's what you download it for, the fun and joys of playing with friends. The thrill and fear of never knowing when it all about to end, the fungi in the dark, but through the power of friendship anything can be overcome. That is what this is all about, an experience that may be fleeting, but one that will be looked back on fondly. I thank the developer for granting us our fun, and I am eager to see what the next one brings on. Thank you for reading this review, it was great to have your time.
🌳 Fungiman – A Delightfully Weird Survival Horror Experience Rating: 8/10 From the moment you step into Fungiman’s uncanny forest, you're immediately struck by its bizarre charm. Built on Unity and free to play, this indie survival horror gem caught me by surprise—and then ate my donuts. SteamDB +15 Steam Store +15 Steam Community +15 What Works 🧩 Atmosphere with personality: The forest setting feels both familiar and unsettling. The presence of the strange fungus guardian—Füngiman—and his obsession with protecting his magical donuts give the game a quirky yet unnerving tone. Steam Store Simple yet tense gameplay loop: Collect six delicious donuts while avoiding a relentless pursuer. It’s comparable to Slender Man–style mechanics but with a playful twist. A Reddit reviewer summed it up perfectly: “Stupid to say a sliding fungus actually jump-scared me more than any other ‘horror’ game.” Backloggd Replayability: With two modes—classic and reworked—plus multiple endings, hidden minigames, and AI that adapts to your playstyle, Fungiman has more depth than the download size suggests. Steam Store +15 Steam Store +15 YouTube +15 Room for Improvement 🧠 Low production polish: Fungiman is ambitious for a free indie title, but occasional rough edges in graphics, audio, and overall polish are noticeable. Short runtime: With only six donuts to find and a minimalist narrative, the core experience can feel brief. Still, it leans into its strengths with atmosphere and tension effectively. Final Verdict 💡 Fungiman carved out a niche with its surreal combination of horror and humour. Despite its short length and indie limitations, it delivers spooky jump scares wrapped in mushroom-themed absurdity. Its 90% positive rating from nearly 480 Steam users confirms it resonates. Steam Community If you’re looking for a weird, free horror experience that’s more playful than polished, give Fungiman a try. And hey—don’t eat the donuts without looking over your shoulder.

this is the best game of 2022
Fungiman hides a soulful, delicious experience underneath a facade of a low quality, low effort game. As the gaming industry has progressed, it has lost authenticity and passion, and gained graphical excellence. Fungiman strives to be an exception to this bleak and banal desecrated war zone that the gaming industry is currently in. In a world where gaming has come to a slow, meek heat death, and passion is no longer concentrated enough to make any product that isn't straight pig offal, Fungiman is a shining star, beating all odds and coalescing something that has spirit. This is not some sort of joke, this game is great. Go play Fungiman
I can finally make reviews for games on steam. Decent game but multiplayer is very unbalanced, it's impossible to win. Fungiman 2 would hopefully be better. You have no reason not to play it.
