This is one of the best Hockey Sims I have ever played. I have purchased all 3 iterations of FHM and they continuosly improved year over year. The speed in which you can sim seasons compared to old versions of EHM is fantastic. The new international tourneys are a great add - the game can be a little glitchy at times crashing from time to time after running the game for a while (usually multiple seasons).
This game has a good idea but it is perfected poorly. If the developers of this can make a UI similar to Out of the Park 18 this game will be worth the purchase but until then I cannot recommend this game.

A fantastic hockey simulation game. Just the right amount of detail and control, love the fact that they have the NHL license and that I can go back and play as my favourite team, in the era I grew up with and love the most. The only thing missing is the ability to add/create an expansion team whenever you like or edit divisions when using historical seasons. A solid 8/10.
I really enjoy playing OOTP 18 (Out of the Park baseball 18) and this game is made by the same people. OOTP 18 runs so smoothly and doesn't lag/crash until your file size is so big that it could be a game of its own. This game, however, can't even load properly. I tried to set up a custom league with just TWO minor leagues. Just two! And it crashed while making the game (twice because I tried it again.) I can see why this is only half of the price of OOTP 18. I tried doing a historical league but it crashed too. I made another custom league with 20 minute OTs and simming the OT in game crashes everytime. I stopped trying to do that. The only way to ensure nothing is lost in this game is to save every ten seconds which removes the fun factor entirely. I still gave the game a chance after all of this by playing the "Road to Glory" mode. It started off well but then it randomly crashed in the middle of games, trades, and even the frickin' menu screen. This was a waste of money and I've never seen this combination of contrast between two games made by the same DEVs. I think they just had success with OOTP 18 so they used their brand to get people to buy this nonsense. Don't waste your money. Please. Save Yourself.
Unless you save your game every week, this game sucks Great potential, but way too many crashed to be enjoyable! Potential 5/5 Ability 1/5
I have a little over 10 hours of game time and unfortunately, the game has crashed on me about 5 times. I am not sure why it keeps crashing, but I am unable to really dig the game itself. Franchise Hockey Manager 2 was a ton of fun, but FHM 3 has been nothing but an exercise in frustration. Thankfully I bought it for 9.99 on sale, so it isn't htat big a loss. Back to FHM 2 I go.
Don't buy this game unless you want massive dissapointment. After one season the save files become corrupted and you cannot play them anymore. This constantly happens and there is no telling when your save files will stop working.
The game has barely improved UI wise since the original FHM game. The AI continues to be deeply flawed. It might make a fun sandbox sim, but updating ratings is extremely obtuse and takes an extensive amount of time. I usually don't give up with this little play time into a game. But watching Ottawa send Chris Kelly to St Louis for Jake Allen during the pre-season of my first season was just all sorts of mind boggling.
This is the first game I have rated on Steam but I had to do it because it sucks. Save your money and buy something else.
Great - FUN - game. I capitalized FUN because that is what this game is. I have played and simmed a number of seasons and have seen none of the older issues people mention. This is a great must have game if you are a hockey lover. Loads of fun and some really cool tactical choices. Highly recommeded for hockey fans who enjoy management simulations.
