A solitaire game with a creepy retro dark fantasy theme and linear story. Pros: I love the authentic looking pre-rendered images. The gameplay loop kept me engaged and the voice acting and sound design are pretty good. Cons: While the frame story is alright, the inner 'in game' story is borderline non-existent. It's a constant loop of 'overcome an obstacle' > 'find a creature' > 'it wants to murder you'. The gameplay has some tactical depth sometimes, but overall the game is lacking strategic challenge. Neutral: Some of the acting is a bit on the Command & Conquer side. It's hard to tell which parts of the game are deliberately charmingly trashy and which ones were just neglected, but overall Forbidden Solitaire is quite successful in achieving the retro creepypasta vibe it's going for.
It's an interesting premise, fun game, props for having a jumpscare toggle (I can't stand jumpscares), without ruining the rest of the atmosphere. It's rather short tbh, especially for this price. But I had fun with it so I recommend it. Don't go into it expecting something like Incryption. It's not like that. Tbh, the main downside is that there's nothing to choose or explore - it's basically a series of card games, connected by a story, that gets increasingly difficult, but never impossible.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,420 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Lovely story, design and gameplay. I'm not normally a puzzle or text based game person so I wasn't sure if I'd like it but the game is amazing I love it. Can't wait to play more games from this studio xxx
Incredible game, kept me hooked the whole time. I'm not even a fan of solitaire, but the story and power ups were a lot of fun to play with.
This game has so much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ heart I was practically in tears reading the document you get access to at the end. It goes so far beyond just visual and stylistic nostalgia, though those elements rock too - you've got a BB:FoF reference, like this game oozes authentic-feeling callbacks that go beyond just "hey, 'member this huge hallmark of pop culture that you can buy a Funko Pop for??" Like I'm sure you can buy a Jonathan Frakes Funko but he's probably wearing some Star Trek ♥♥♥♥. It has some fun mechanics, but I really stuck around for the story and the gorgeous delivery - the visuals are impeccably crusty, the shopkeeper voice is suitably ghoulish, it maintains its own identity in a way that a lot of "retro" titles can't, and it has a lot of small peripheral details like FMV sequences that dig deep into what made 90s-early 2000s games so weird and memorable. Seriously, Night Signal and Grey Alien Games are going right into my "grab every title you can" tier list of developers. There is so much care and thought and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ingenuity here (BLITZMAX?????), they absolutely deserve the overwhelmingly positive reviews. This is GAME development. I'm so earnest rn I don't even have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ quip to make about it for some cheap review likes and awards - a deep sacrifice from me, as those are the only things sustaining my sense of self at the moment. Thank you for this.
buy it on sale, its pretty short
EVIL ass HAUNTED solitaire !! 3/5 (Good)
Fast paced and fun! Surprisingly chill to play considering the theme. It's not so much spooky in itself, rather it's a tongue in cheek pastiche of old spooky games.
