these puzzles are challenging at best
Flip is a simple puzzle game that takes a very basic idea and manages to make it more difficult than it first looks. I am given chains of pieces that need to be rearranged until they match the required pattern, and the challenge is doing that in as few moves as possible. It is the kind of game I can understand almost immediately, but getting good at it is a different story. I like that because there is no complicated tutorial getting in the way. I can just start solving puzzles and gradually work out the best way to approach them. There are four different puzzle types, which helps quite a bit. The Simple puzzles are about matching colours, while Sided adds orientation into the mix. Wired puzzles ask me to follow cables and untangle the pieces, and Image puzzles have me rebuilding pictures from broken sections. I like the way these variations change what I need to pay attention to. The basic movement stays familiar, but the information I need to read from the puzzle changes, so it does not feel like I am solving exactly the same thing every time. The star system also gives me a reason to care about how well I solve each puzzle. Completing puzzles earns stars, and those stars unlock more levels and puzzle types. I like this because it gives the simple puzzles a little bit of progression without turning the game into something unnecessarily complicated. There are also 25 achievements, with some of them requiring me to properly master the different puzzle types. It gives me something extra to work towards once I already understand the basic mechanics. The biggest weakness for me is that the game is extremely focused. There is not much here outside of the puzzles themselves, so whether I enjoy Flip really depends on how much I like this particular type of brain teaser. Some puzzles can also become surprisingly difficult when I am trying to solve them efficiently rather than simply finding any solution. I can understand the answer eventually, but getting the minimum number of moves can require me to think several steps ahead. That is satisfying when I am in the right mood, but it can also make a relaxing session turn into a frustrating one pretty quickly. I also think the presentation is quite basic. There is nothing particularly memorable about the visuals or the overall presentation, although I do appreciate that everything stays clear and easy to read. For this kind of puzzle game, I would rather have simple visuals that let me concentrate than a lot of effects getting in the way. The fact that it is completely free also makes the limited presentation much easier for me to accept. I am getting a focused puzzle experience without having to spend anything on it. What I like most is that Flip can work for two completely different moods. I can play it casually and just solve puzzles without worrying about the number of moves, or I can take it much more seriously and try to find efficient solutions. That gives the basic mechanic more life than I expected. It is not a huge game and I would not pretend that it has the depth of a much larger puzzle title, but there is enough variety in the four puzzle types to keep the idea interesting for a while. Overall, Flip is a decent little free puzzle game that knows exactly what it wants to be. I like the simple controls, four puzzle types, star based progression and the extra challenge of trying to solve everything efficiently. The presentation is basic and the gameplay can become repetitive once I have spent enough time with it, but the different puzzle types stop it from feeling completely one note. For me, it is best as a short brain training game that I can pick up whenever I want something quiet to think about rather than a game I would play for hours at a time. Rating: 6.9/10

You much flip and switch two/multiple pieces to match a pattern or make the piece go in ascending order in the minimum number of moves possible which is one less then total pieces.
Très bon casse tête.
