Short game where you explore some kind of bunker to find notes. No jumpscares, no action, no bongos with basic visuals. Vibe of this one is a bit scary but without real danger it's just another walking sim.
Fingerbones is the first game from David Szymanski, well known for titles such as Iron Lung and Squirrel Stapler. This is very much a take on the note collection subgenre of horror games, and it is done well. Not much else to say besides it is worth checking out if you want to see where the developer started.

A short walking sim about a deranged father stuck in a bunker only with his daughter during the apocalypse. In the absence of society, the guy concludes that morality no longer serves its evolutionary purpose, and
engages in a four-letter, involuntary act with his daughter, which supposedly results in her death.
As intriguing as pondering the nature of morality is, I can't ignore the fact that this game features a keypad that glows red at all times and plays an error sound even when the entered combination is correct.
Hello, welcome all Chuds, Gamers, and other Nerds. I aim to 100% all the games that catch my eye and join the sea of reviews on this platform. Most will never read this, but I will review the games I find simply and thoroughly. 1 What is "Fingerbones?" A short PS1 styled psychological horror game. 2 What does this game play like? A basic psychological / puzzle horror game (no enemies or threats). Simple rankings Story 10/10: Dark, very dark. A man and his daughter survive some sort of apocalyptic event, and you now see what happened to them as the days went on. Game play 10/10: For what this game is trying to do, flawless. Basic puzzles that let the tone of the game surround you as you see what happened in that bunker. Overall 10/10: A excellent horror story both with the environment, and with the notes. The tone is very dark and genuinely disturbing, but that is what a horror game should be. “Fingerbones” manages to be a masterpiece that could stand alongside any short horror story written by your favorite horror writer.
Painfully slow walking speed, wouldn't've bothered me as much if it weren't for the constant back and forth between the keyboard and the doors it opens no visual/sound/text cues when you input correct codes, had to take a peek at the discussions to see if I was doing anything wrong at first Story is alright, kind of predictable that he was going to
do something morally corrupt
from the first half of the notes
oh god
Not really worth your time even tho its super short. Nothing really happens in this game, it has shocking / depressing lore, its not scary or that interesting, didnt get anything from playing this one. Cool atmosphere and the lights are nice. I wish there was a warning for the
r-word of a child
. Like i love when games handle difficult topics but a warning would be nice.
I regret played it
*spoilers* I suppose I can add this game to my list of "short indie horror games about child abuse*. It's a surprisingly long list - or maybe not that surprising after all. That said, even if civilization is gone, and you truly believe that societal rules and mores are all fictions, why the ♥♥♥♥ would you do that?!
I wish I could recommend this, really, I do. but unlike other games by David Syzmanski, the story just.. isn't great, I understand it's an older game, and early work and I can appreciate it from there. but it's hard to recommend a glorified walking sim with little to no substance. play it if you want, form your own opinion, most I'll do is shoot for a world record speedrun of this lol
