I've been a fan of FF since i was kid and played FFIV on my SNES being able to roam around as a bunny person and slap monsters with paint magic bring a smile to face that i couldnt even fathom as kid.
It's ok
Good game, community seems solid if you get in a good FC. Can be a bit overwhelming at first, but just push through. Make sure you read what you're choosing when you make your character, only real difference in the end is where you start out.

It may take time, but once you get into the game it's very much worth it.
I've played MMOs for most of my life, I can recall the days of MMOHut. Through those years, FF14 has been discussed to some extent. Across Neverwinter, WoW, and GW2 - I recall hearing the tale of FF14 going from nothing to massive. I never really tried it out though. It was something that I thought I wouldn't enjoy. The job system seemed weird, I heard the story took forever to get good (it can, for some), so all in all I ignored it until 2024-2025. After 400+ hours, I feel it necessary to throw my hat into the mix of perpetual supporters for the game. There's a plethora of content to do, but the story-focus truly elevates it above other MMOs, and I say this as someone (again) who has played multiple MMOs for quite some time. As an MMO veteran, I certainly feel it has earned it's spot on the upper totem spots of MMOs.
Seems chill compared to many modern MMORPGs and their attention to accessibility is great. Having a toggle for nearly everything is a breath of fresh air and allows you to play the game in a way that fits your preferences. Works great so far on an ultra-wide monitor, but I haven't explored all content yet.
