i miss the OG FFVII :(
♥♥♥♥ you Square Enix.
I put in the hours, so I can say that there's not much of value here. Respect your own free time more than I respected mine.
Finally, a game to take the crown from FFXV as the worst game I've ever played. It takes all the things I liked from Part 1, which I already wasn't that keen on and ruins those things. At the same time it takes all the things that were bad in Part 1 and makes them worse. The combat is cluttered and messy and feels even less deliberate. The music is bad, the remixes were for the most part forgettable and bad in Part 1 but they're worse here. The visual style is even worse, so many Unreal store assets that do NOT mesh with anything hand made by SE themselves. Entire character backstories ruined either by bad pacing or rewrites. The main story has been made completely nonsensical due to the multiverse BS they've conjured up and then don't really do anything meaningful with other than to occasionally do REMEMBER THIS callbacks. The port is bad, a good hour or two was spent trying to get it not to stutter with ini tweaks and various mods and really in the end nothing was a surefire fix, I still got stutters no matter what I did. The padding issue that was already a MASSIVE problem even in concept for a 3 game remake of a single game is WORSE here somehow. In the original game Midgar is maybe a about a 4 hour segment and if you take your time the base game is about 40 hours. Here they take a stretch of game that is about 6-8 hours tops and bloat it to 80+ if you plan on wanting to see a majority of the "content." Well what is most of this content you may ask? Ubisoft towers, bubble wrap popping open world checklists, walk and talk segments, ducking under rubble and sidling along walls AGAIN. Bad mini games, there's a bad mini game around every corner in every section of the map and in every town and in every sidequest there's a bad mini game to be found. Even something as simple as the buggy that you use for maybe 30 minutes, is turned into both a figurative and literal vehicle to waste your time. They force you to ride around in this thing for a few hours while getting in and out of it repeatedly, playing a 30 second long animation that's unskippable every time you do. And really that's the games mission, its thesis, to waste your time and steal your money. This remake project is a wash, it neither pleases fans of the original and clearly by the sales numbers it's not attracting new fans. This game stinks so bad, that after 10 years to wash the taste of fecal matter from this game out, I went back and played the original and you know what. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it, it never needed remade. Its story is succinct and 95% well told. The music is great, there's no padding, the side content is for the most part enjoyable, it's paced immaculately, IT ACTUALLY MADE ME FEEL SOMETHING OTHER THAN BURNING RAGE. If you meet anyone that says they like these remake games, they are not people, it's that simple. Terrible, DO NOT PLAY.
fix the black textures bug
This game is for anyone that wants to play a loading simulator. Everything requires loading. Run around the map, loading. Play an arbitrary mini game, loading. Talk to anyone for any reason, loading. Pass by any environment, loading. This game can't help but waist a players time to pad out the length of the game. So many unappealing mini games through out this game that take away from the story. Play a card game, an RTS (Real Time Strategy) game, a racing game, ETC... ALL TO MAKE THE GAME LONGER. Does it drive the story or have any impact on the game....NO! I will not be purchasing "Revelation" if I have to deal with any of the same issues as I don't want to waste time with all the crap that Square Enix decides to shove down the throats of the players. The game can look good and it can have a decent combat system but if it is going to have so much filler then it doesn't deserve any praise.
Beautiful captures the magic of the original while having its own twists and surprises in store not a single part of this game lacked attention, truly one of the most passionate games I've ever played I don't think I could describe just how much care and thought was put into every single thing about this game. From the over arching story, to the dialogue of the hundreds of NPCs that you will run past just to hear them say something so interesting that you stop and appreciate the living breathing world Square Enix built, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is a genuine masterpiece that stands not on the shoulder's of the legendary legacy it reimagines, but instead side by side There’s also an irish cat and a bipolar dog in your party 10/10
Disappointingly mediocre. The story is uninteresting and horribly paced. Combat isn't fun and the skill trees are really dull. Most of the story quests are a series of mini-games.
This game will do just about anything to stop you from interacting with the story. I only played the original Final Fantasy 7 up to the point where you get out of Midgar, so I thought the remake might be a good way to experience this legendary RPG (from what I have heard.) I enjoyed the first entry in this remake trilogy, but this one just missed the mark for me. I have picked it up and put it down so many times that I don't even really remember how to play it, and that's kind of the nail in the coffin for me. What interests me is the story that they are trying to tell, but every chapter is filled with hours of playing card games, playing board games, finding towers to have you find side quests that give you nothing in return, getting put in a prison and having to play card games and board games and guessing who is a liar about mundane things, then riding a chocobo. There seems to be an interesting and decent story in here somewhere, I just can't play another useless minigame to try and get there. After 30 hours, I have to give up. Maybe I will find the strength to do it some day.
