FUN
cool but kinda boring alone
I know this isn't up to par with other Fallout games but as a multiplayer / coop experience I actually really enjoy playing it with friends. The subscription being overpriced is probably my main complaint but it is possible to play without it. I would say this feels closer to an actual Fallout game than ESO did Elder Scrolls.
Fallout 76 is the worst thing that has ever happened since my son. And while my son will eventually die after hanging himself in the bathroom of a gas station, Fallout 76 will always be here. It is never going away. 30 years from now you will meet kids who will ask you, after playing the 76th release of Skyrim "Hey old man, what was Bethesda like back in the 2020's?" Well son, let me tell you about a man named Todd Howard. Yes, he was not always the cyborg Toddbot that you know today. He once was merely a man. A man with one vice more than any other. Greed. He would sell anything, it did not matter to him. Some say he got started in sales during the old days, back when Steam was just so you could play Half Life 2. But the truth is far darker. The Todd as we called him in our time, pre-exists currency. He is an ancient daemon of the old world, some say that he invented currency as we know it in order to harvest it to fuel his unending need for money. Greed you see, is a horrible vice. Why would you let someone have a pair of green pants that exists solely in a video game, when you could charge someone five dollars for them? If someone will pay, you can earn. Why would you have any content in a digital form, without charging for it? If someone will pay, you can earn. Why would you let people play just with their friends in a video game about playing with your friends, when you can charge them for the privilege? If someone will pay, you can earn. It was the world of 16 times the detail. 16 times the expense. 16 times the Fun (tm). 16 times we would say there is no reason for this and 16 times Toddbot 9000 would mechanically laugh and increase the price. They were dark times. They were the worst times. They were times I spent with friends who are dead now. And Toddbot would likely charge me every time I think about the times in this game, if he could only figure out a way to monetize it.
This is what I wanted ever since Fallout 3 and 4 - to play with friends and share bases! I actually skipped the main quests and just have been doing public events and free roaming
