Falcon Gold

This game is fantastic. It does several things that modern day flight sims have yet to recreate. [list] [*]Great manual. I suggest you read the whole thing and maybe take notes. [*]Easy to play "sim". You fly multiple types of missions from takeoff to landing. Plan the missions, load up the weapons, find and identify the enemy (and avoid getting shot down), and employ your weapons. This provides a lot of things to learn but none of it is complicated (unlike Falcon 4, BMS, DCS). [*]Several theaters of war to play in. [*]Squadron management. Your pilots have stats, they get tired, they can gain experience, they can die. This is one of the coolest features in this game. Think xcom but with pilots and jets. [*]You have limited resources. Limited number of jets, missiles, bombs, and even pilots. All of these become a limiting factor later in the campaign. Failing missions and wasting ammo has consequences. [*]Dynamic campaign. Each mission is generated based on the current needs of the war. Every campaign will be different and there several campaigns to try. All with varying win conditions. This provides a huge amount of variety and replay-ability. [*]Oh.. and there are 3 different flyable aircraft. More variety. [/list] If you don't mind the retro graphics and are comfortable spending a bit of time getting Dosbox and controls configured then this game offers an experience and game-play that hasn't been recreated since.
