About
Factory Town 2 is a game about building a thriving tropical village, automating item production with conveyor belts, trains, and catapults, and feeding a giant volcano in exchange for super powers.
You start out on an uninhabited island in the middle of the ocean. After harvesting some resources you can build houses, shops, roads, and factories. This will attract new villagers, who can do your tasks for you! They'll buy the things you make, and you can use that income to upgrade your buildings and expand further.
As your economy grows, you'll need to solve bottlenecks and optimize supply chains using roads, bridges, trains, conveyor belts, and other automated delivery systems. Keep everyone's stats full by supplying them with food, water, clothing, luxuries, and other goods, and your tiny village will grow into a metropolis stretching across multiple islands!
All of this is happening under the watchful eye of a powerful but friendly volcano deity. By feeding items into the volcano, you can gain its favor and it will reward you with new recipes, technology, and upgrades. The volcano can even summon new islands from the ocean floor that you can use to expand your town when you need more space.
A day/night cycle, volumetric water physics, dozens of new items, overhauled town simulation, a controllable avatar and new transportation gadgets like catapults and ziplines offer fans of the original game a fresh and massively improved experience.
Dig trenches and place dams to control the flow of water from springs in the mountains down to your farms and reservoirs to ensure they are properly hydrated. Use waterwheels and windmills to turn drive shafts that can boost food and mineral processing power, or generate electricity that flows through power lines to run refrigerators or furnaces.
Produce dozens of different items including tropical drinks, pastries, ice cream, cooked meals, coffee, clothes, jewelry, books, medicine, and potions. Each item has its own set of worker-boosting stats, so you'll have to choose the best items to make based on what resources you have and the needs of your town.
As always, you can relax and build with no stress or fear of failure, since there are no harsh penalties or time pressure to punish players for experimenting.

I was hoping to love this, a new generation, but it feels almost the same, but with some design choices feeling worse. The character you control feels annoying and in the way a lot, the assigning for people feels worse than the FT1. I was really expecting more polish over FT1. The UI always felt clunky, but this is like the same UI that feels more clunky. I'm hoping that FT3 will be a jump and I wish this game success, but not for me.
first game was great but this is just a mess, no way to tell what is going on, no stats screens, no way to actually optimise the workers. what's the point of having a controllable character?

The first game in this series was a go-to covid game for me. I purchased on day1 based off that experience. So far my time is limited, but I'm happy. Last time the dev worked to allow feedback from the player and It seems the same will be true this time as well.

I hesitated about writing a review but the developer must know. For a new player, the game is absolutely terrible to navigate. The lack of information is crazy. Without info, there is no point of doing things. I'm an organizer so maybe I'm playing the wrong game. I build an item in 1 side of the island but then after an upgrade it needs something from the other side so I take everything down to rebuild. I don't like this. I should be able to see all recipes for a material, specially raw ones but instead I can only see recipes for them once I unlock a specific building that uses it. How I am supposed to plan ahead? I have 8hrs afk of frustration or just staring at the spaghetti I made at such an early stage of the game. All the water in the game has no info. Super confusing so I close the game bc there is no way I can get electricity if i cant even get a water pump connected. the avatar view is useless. that big square is always on my field of view and then I dont have my inventory in cam mode? why is it so confusing? I unlocked flight mode...what is it? I can unlock mana power generator? why do I need mana? The game just seem pointless too. The quests are supposed to help "Villagers are hungry, let's make some bread" type of thing but they do nothing but feed volcano now. Anyway, I'll keep an eye for an update but I won't be playing this. It's more frustration than enjoyment with no goals/tasks
Better than the first one. I've already loved the demo and this was a day one buy for me. Good job, Erik.
It's as good as the first one, but better. Tons of quality of life improvements. Everything that was annoying about the first game, Erik has improved upon. - Annoying impassable chutes and conveyor belts? Fixed - Micromanaging every NPC imaginable? Fixed - Feeling constrained about where houses go vs markets? Fixed - Find it annoying to build chutes and conveyor belts on different levels? Fixed This game is addicting af. Erik clearly knows what he's doing. I can't belive this is early access. Feels like 1.0 already, Really looking forward to where this goes. A developer that cares about what their players think? Check.
Great game, feels relaxing but deep enough to be interesting
It's a good game, worth the purchase. Also, I'm collecting awards if anyone wishes to donate.
