Game loop is quite fun but it lacks negative development, its so easy to make your car the fastest within 1 season.

So, I'm writing this review after the game has already been delisted. And since the entire F1 Manager franchise has now been cancelled, I figured I'd give my opinion on all of them. I've played F1 Manager 2022, 2023 and 2024 on Xbox, and both 2023 and 2024 on Steam. In total, I have around 350 hours in this 2023 version, with around 180 hours on Steam at the time of writing. I should also mention that I'm playing with the Extended UI Mod. So, my review: I honestly can't relate to some of the other reviews here on Steam where people complain about the AI suddenly being seconds faster on old tyres, or sticking to their original pit-stop strategy no matter what happens. In my experience, that's simply not the case. If anything, I actually think the AI feels a bit more realistic in this game than it does in the latest 2024 title. And honestly, this is currently one of my favourite games. One thing I really like is that the only sessions you can completely skip are practice and qualifying. You can't just skip the race and let the game simulate everything for you, and personally, I much prefer it that way. I usually only skip Q3. Of course, even if race simulation was an option, you could simply choose not to use it. But in my experience, if the option is there, you'll eventually use it sometimes. Because of that, I guess it feels much more rewarding to have completed five or six seasons in this game than it does in F1 Manager 2024. The races and seasons themselves can feel surprisingly realistic too. For example, in my last season, Mercedes and Aston Martin were battling for P2 and P3 in the Constructors' Championship. At some point, Aston Martin stopped developing their current car and started focusing on the following season. Mercedes, meanwhile, threw everything they had into the current season. Mercedes eventually overtook Aston Martin and finished P2 in the championship, but the next season you could clearly see the consequences of that decision. Just like we sometimes see in real F1, Mercedes were suddenly absolutely nowhere. They were fighting just to finish around P10. And Aston Martin? Because they'd started working on the following year's car much earlier, they opened the new season by finishing P2 and P3. And this hasn't just happened once. I've seen similar things happen with other teams throughout my saves. Haas and Alpine, for example, are now regularly fighting for podiums and big points. That kind of progression makes the career mode feel alive. My one major complaint about the AI is related to regulation-change emails. Sometimes, when teams have to vote on particular regulation changes, the choices certain teams make just don't make any sense. But to be fair, this has been an issue in all of the F1 Manager games. It's slightly better in 2024, but it's still there. Overall: 8.5/10 I've had loads of fun with this game, although there are still some smaller things I would've liked to see done differently. For me, this would probably be a 9.5/10 if the functionality of the Extended UI Mod had been included in the base game. But honestly, that applies to every F1 Manager title. In all my hundreds of hours playing these games, this version has never crashed on me once. It runs extremely well and has been very stable on my desktop, laptop and console. It genuinely saddens me that the F1 Manager franchise has been cancelled. For a true F1 fan, these games are just amazing. I know some people complain that "it's not realistic", but I really don't agree with that. You can choose the difficulty, and with everything turned up to the maximum, the game can become genuinely difficult, especially after you've already won a championship and expectations start increasing. You can basically make the game as difficult as you want it to be. Unfortunately, F1 Manager 2023 can't officially be bought anymore. But if it was still available, I would absolutely recommend it. F1 Manager 2024 is still available for purchase at the time of writing, so that's probably the best alternative right now. But if you can find a legitimate key for F1 Manager 2023 somewhere, I'd say it's definitely worth playing. I would highly recommend installing the Extended UI Mod, though. I'd almost call it essential to the experience. It genuinely makes the game more enjoyable. So, to the developers at Frontier: Thank you for all of these games. You guys really did an amazing job.

good
Best if you prefer the 2023 season and feel this version hits a sweet spot in difficulty. Recommended The bridge between "Too Easy" and "Too Complex." In 2026, F1 Manager 2023 remains the definitive way to relive the 2023 season. While it doesn't have the "Create A Team" mode of the 2024 game, it feels more stable and balanced for those who just want to take over an existing constructor and win. Why it's still worth playing: Race Replay & Scenarios: This was the standout feature. Being able to jump into real-life moments from the 2023 season and try to change history (like getting Alonso that Monaco win) is still a blast. Better Difficulty: Unlike the 2022 version, you can't just take Williams to a P1 finish in year one. The AI is smarter with development and strategy. Refined Pit Crew Training: Managing the "Sporting Director" and training your crew adds a nice layer of tension that was missing from the first game. Cons: You are stuck with the 10 official teams (no custom branding). The UI is a bit click-heavy compared to the streamlined 2024/2025 versions. Verdict: If it’s on sale for under $10, it's a steal. Perfect for Steam Deck.
very fun
If you enjoy Formula 1 and like management games, F1 Manager 2023 is a surprisingly addictive experience. Instead of driving the car yourself, you're the one making all the important decisions—race strategy, pit stops, tire choices, car development, driver contracts, and trying to keep everyone happy while staying under budget. There's something really satisfying about making the perfect strategy call and watching your driver climb through the field. Of course, there's also the pain of watching a safety car come out one lap after you pit... The game isn't perfect. Some systems can become repetitive after multiple seasons, and there are moments where you'll wish your drivers would stop finding creative ways to ruin a good race. But overall, it's a fun management game that captures the feeling of running an F1 team. If you've ever watched a race and thought, "I could've made a better strategy call," this is your chance to prove it. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to explain to my driver why boxing for hard tires with two laps to go was definitely the right decision...
