Every thought of the world as a massive performance extractor? Well it has indeed become so... and it's not new actually. Eliza might be a bit heavy for the average player and person, but I am pretty sure the vehicle Zachtronic chose for divulgative purposes is a very good one. Extremely effective as you do get involved in the gestures not only in reading or viewing, and ultimately and constantly in the understanding... AI abuse is just another excuse for a new age of slavery, domination, colonialism, and degradation of humanity and of all its achievements. This is a great tool for raising awareness also for those who have very dormient and absent critical skills, a matter this latter one that is crucial for the hyper complex times in which we are diving willing or unwilling into. May this game be of warning for all those who will live after the challenging times for communities and cities in the epidemic of digital misuse, digital abuse, rampant lack of ethics ... A humanity winter. What you will read and see in the very first moments of this videogame is highly horrifying and scary and the problem is that it DOESN'T DIFFER AT ALL FROM THE IMPLEMENTATIONS of the present and possibly of the future: we see megacorps attempting to start civil wars with AI through calculation of bombing on specific targets, also AI calculation of bombing of targets for extermination of a people, we see people being studied en masse with the help of AI... people feeding AI and training codes and programs in order to have a payed job (temporary one)... I think Eliza the game succeeds in making everyone realize, masses can be chained and even manipulated in groups making them think they are sick or they have personal problems if they protest or aren't agreeing with something. It is a game very capable at making understand what kind of games can be played with people if we allow these tools to become a normalized and even sugar coated by "humanity" like the proxy here does, in order for this new slavery made possible by the automation of control coding and programming via cloud and then quantum computing allows. The massive epidemic of lack of interaction among humans, nature, real life is a serious problem, and the "non autonomous" decision, often imposed, as in the void opportunities for change (sometime even in worse) can happen, in this void of human interaction, other things are penetrating the equation and changing it, should humans allow substitution of themselves, should humans accept a transformation into something else? Are maybe humans tired? New classes and kasts will be born, new old systems, possibly enforced or reinforced for a new finance and economy of exploitation of data and human energy will be born. Are we sure we want to lose control over it? Surely this production is capable to evoke several existential questions in front of the community. The one I feel to be the main one also before playing this story is: do we really want to delegate the world to some one else, do we really don't want to exercise anymore the citizen responsibility? Don't we want to evolve in a human way? Eliza, the ultimate tool for power to reinvent itself into an extremely all seeing eye ...of Sauron and into a never ending profit making kast. How fun is the solitario?! Cool brain training, the key of everything, staying critical staying active, do not let your brain lose training. Imagination is key. Indeed... AI someone says is Applied Imagination (RJK) Just like anything, tradition, cultures, language, human or not human, "DNA", all is stratification, so you wanna stratify in a healthy way your brain your emotions your trainings to be well and prepared to crisis. Solitario in this game contains this metaphor. What is important is finding methods, creating methods. This is what humans must keep doing without fear ... CREATE. Never forget that Fascism of turbo capitalism we see today will never come to a dangerous evolution by announcing itself (and in past tyranny and horror) has never come with violence. It has persuaded like a sea siren and a "woman in red" (cit. matrix) or like a very capable narrator, the masses that the horror, the future was bright and that following such dangerous road was a good idea... So just remember that if danger will come it can also come silently not always by ringing bells. Fascism can also come without us to realize it or without us protesting, people can be put in prison without realizing it.

Absolutely phenomenal game. The story was mature and thoughtful, it respected me as a player and allowed me to think for myself and not pointing too hard at one specific "correct" way to think about all of this. The characters all felt like real people and I felt immersed in my role at the centre of the story. I really can't give higher praise to a visual novel than what Eliza managed to accomplish. I wholeheartedly recommend it.
I'm glad I got to experience Eliza, and I think you should experience it, too. All I'll say is that it evoked feelings in me that games rarely try to evoke, and it's even rarer for them to succeed,
A fascinating exploration of the ethics of "ai"-like program development and the humans caught in the cogs of software companies willing to exploit developers and customers alike.
I remembered this game and had to check the release date. It's a visual novel set "in the near future", supposed to be somewhat dystopic. Funnily enough, real life proved to be way more depressing and precarious. It's a visual novel. Barely any gameplay there. With a good story and good art. From a time we thought things would only get slightly worse - our current boring dystopia make its critique seem somewhat naïve.
Thought provoking with interesting characters and incredible voice acting. I only wish the counselling aspect could be made into a game itself! I would be totally hooked!
Some of the best voice acting I've experienced in a game before, with a very clean interface. Selecting things, the phone mechanic, sound design, etc. were all very satisfying to interact with throughout. Good story and characters too. Big fan of Evelyn. Certainly worth checking out when it's on a sale. $15 normal price isn't terrible, but it's a little high, in my opinion. 6.7/10 experience.
