ELECTROBASIS

"ELECTROBASIS" is a very low quality first person adventure from developers who couldn't afford to buy a 16:9 widescreen monitor in 2024 so they made it on a CRT they found in a dumpster. Now, given that background for the developer, do you think these dumpster divers could come up with a game resembling the state of the art for 2024 (Black Myth Wukong, Helldivers 2... and this). The graphics here are particularly awful, so bad that it actually stands out as one of the worst looking games on Steam. Quite an accomplishment. It's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. This is only free in a rudimentary sense... the developer has their hand out for a $5 USD "donation" for this as you're expected to buy some extra DLC from Steam... digital panhandling. Like the homeless guys who splash dirty water on your windscreen at the traffic lights. No thanks. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 10 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Finally, this is infested with the toxic EOS malware... now, this is a single player game, so it's not for online services... it's just for data harvesting as the developer clearly seems eager to profile you and presumably sell the data. They'll argue and whine it's not for that purpose, but if you could trust them, they wouldn't be trojaning EOS into a single player game, now, would they? No, they would not. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off.
