OMG, i did the 5 minutes. it was soooo short that i hoped to get 5 minutes in the game. i really dont know what it should be. OK, its free, but i could have saved space on my HDD. first of all i dont speak chinese or japanese, thats what this little blue thing is speaking. no subtitles at all, but the credits at the end i could read. most things to interact are out of range (behind chaperone). there is no real goal or challange, or maybe i just didnt get the message of this game because the little blue "guide" is talking in chinese. i had sooooo much framedrops but i cant blame my rig for it. 1080 gtx, i7-4770k, 1866MHz Corsair vengeance 16GB, rog maximus impact vi, watercooled 50°C. other games run fine.
I am all about the free games, but for english speakers that have 2mX2m roomscale or smaller (mine is actually 2.2mX2.1) then I can't recommend this experience. There are plenty of free experiences out there that are just as short as this and I recommend you try them all, but there are two critical issues with this one: It's entirely in a foreign language (Japanese?) and you may not be able to complete it due to the objects that you must interact with being just outside of your game play area. I got lucky that I was able to reach beyond my gameplay area because 3 of the 4 sides of my roomscale are only partially limited (e.g. one side is a counter separating my living room from my kitchen) and luckily I was able to interact with all the "pieces" to what essentially boils down to a very simple puzzle game. All 3 braziers that I needed to light were outside my play area and I got luck on all 3--if it would have been in a slightly different place where I couldn't reach beyond (like the 1 whole side of my play area that is a wall) then I wouldn't have been able to complete it. There is not teleport ability that I can tell, but then again the little Japanese speaking ghost might have been telling me exactly how to do that but I don't speak Japanese. I messed around with the controls a little but not too much because it wasn't all that compelling regardless. The ending isn't very good (I won't say more just in case you do decide to check it out). One last flaw is that they haven't optimized it very well. I have an oc'ed gtx 1080 and I don't get too many scenes in VR games that are at all juttery but the entire ending was nearly unplayable, in fact if it would have continued for any longer I would have just quit the game. Admittedly, I have supersampling kicked up a little, but its not an issues with the rest of the very demanding games that I have played. If you have a few minutes of time to waste then go for it, but there are better free stuff out there to try first.

"DreamLand" is not a game for gamers, it's a VR tech demo from a failed flegdeling studio... and while they did okay for visuals (which are now 10 years old and dated looking), the game lacks polish and didn't work well with the VR headsets popular last decade... and it won't go great with the ones from this decade either. It's a jittery, janky mess. What do you do in the game? Wave your arms around in VR for a bit... and that's all. It's just a short, lame VR tech demo set in a temple. There's no English translation for the game, but that's okay. The language of bad games is universal. The tech demo is quite short, and can be run through in just half an hour or less. The lack of content here makes it hard to suggest it's worth spending the time to add to your library and download. It's VR exclusive, and that shows the developer failed to understand the most basic axiom of VR game design... if the only cool thing about your product is VR support, your product is not cool. This game is ancient, it's over 10 years old... it's heavily dated and isn't going to give you a remotely contemporary gaming experience... another reason for gamers to be hesitant about adding this to their libraries. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. A peak of 13 concurrent players (according to SteamDB) for a "free" game is a disastrous public reception. Out of 130 million potential players here on Steam, almost nobody was interested. Even though this is "free". That level of rejection speaks a lot for the quality of the game. Since free games don't contribute to your game collector badge and other profile stuff, is this a worthwhile addition to your Steam library? This is a "nope". While it won't necessarily cost you money, the time and hard drive space it requires could be better invested in one of the many higher quality alternatives on Steam. Finally, I write these reviews to try help people navigate the thousands of games on Steam so they don't waste time on low quality products. There's over 140,000 games on Steam... Steam Direct is allowing an influx of around 40-50 new games every day!. If you think I'm wrong about this VR tech demo, go ahead and add it to your library, download it, install it, play it and see for yourself. Maybe you'll come to agree with me after wasting your time. Either way, consider writing your own reviews too. I'm just glad if my review helps give gamers enough info to make a better informed choice.
Never made it past the first loading screen which made me sick. (I had to let this run for 3 more minutes so I could post a review for this trash)
It's in chinese.

awful
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
I had absolutely no issues. You do need a roomscale setup. The whole experience took me around 7 minutes and I was taking my time and also stayed at the end credit screen for like a minute as well (had to exit out manually). All the audio is in a foreign language (Mandarin probably). However, I was able to finish the experience without having read any spoliers so it's not difficult to follow along to what you're supposed to do. I don't think you need a large play area to finish this experience. Probably the hardest puzzle was figuring out how to start the experience. I pressed trigger on both of my Touch Controllers. The visuals were nice and the experience ran smoothly. Just make sure you can pick stuff up from the ground and can at least walk a few small steps left and right of center. Rate 6/10. It's free and it's a mostly cinematic experience with very light puzzle elements. Download once and uninstall experience, but definitely one of the better ones.
Can't get to parts I need to to progress the game. Your play space obviously needs to be bigger than my 2.7m square. The game should adapt obviously. Poor.
Great Game but look at that kitty, whoever pass by can pet it and give it a thumbs up. Have a nice day :3 /> フ | _ _ l /` ミ_xノ / | / ヽ ノ │ | | | / ̄| | | | | ( ̄ヽ__ヽ_)__)
