About

Dread Admiral is a turn-based naval roguelite where you command a persistent fleet across a hostile archipelago. Every ship you build carries forward, and every ship you lose is lost forever. Every turn you spend on a mission is a turn less for the future - and a turn closer to a relentless enemy engulfing you.

Earn ranks, unlock Perks and technology, and earn upgrades for your Flagship even when you lose.

No two campaigns play the same. Navigate unpredictable mission modifiers against AI Admirals with distinct personalities and tactics, deciding when you fight and when you flee.
Every turn, the Black Fleet gets closer - will you gather more resources and ships, or will you abandon your mission to buy time?

Alternating Activations - You're always looking for the next best move, as is your opponent. Every ship has been delicately balanced to have a role to play.

Dread Admiral is perfect for players who enjoyed FTL, Urtuk: The Desolation, or Darkest Dungeon.
You will lose. You will make tough decisions. You will run out of time. You will fail mission objectives. You will eke out victory by the slimmest of margins against an AI that adapts its fleet and economy to yours.

I swear to god the A.I cheats its pants off in the campaign, either that or its a campaign for freaks.
absolutely awesome game, I have more playtime in the demo

Honestly the game is just solid in a general sense. Sound design is great, the music is enjoyable, the ping of sonar when finding a sub tickles my brain just right, and the firing of guns is different enough between ships to be named without sight. The AI itself seems mostly fair, and my only gripe is that some of the generated maps are their own difficulty setting. What I mean by that is that if you get a bad map generation (usually you have two to three options so, generally you have an option) which gives the enemy 2/3 cities and you can't push out fast enough, you might just get steam rolled before you can really fight; doesn't happen often, only happened once to me, but it can happen. Damage/Crit values are shared by the AI, so no random damage bumps from the AI you can't understand; AI also has the same economy as you it seems - though I cannot confirm how the AI gets money, as the player carries a rolling bank between missions, the AI seems to have a set amount each level before getting more from their captured cities. Overall there's not much to complain about, anything I could gripe about is a sensible design choice. The AI uses a lot of subs, probably because I use a lot of capital ships and minimal screens. Enemy carriers keep bombing my destroyers, probably so the subs don't get caught. Enemies blockade my cities with subs but I need my destroyers with the battle fleet; yeah, it's actually smart enough to do that. I can't take my full fleet at the end of the mission, yeah, hard choices ensure it's not easy to steam roll mission after mission. The enemy has rocket firing submarines... Ok I just don't have those yet but I want one, and if I could complain about anything, it's the fact there's no real counter to something like that; I'd recommend a CWIS to the Developer, although maybe the super ships have those. Really everything works here, as far as rogue likes/lites go, this is probably one of the best ones I've played, especially at the price.
so played the demo then got the game so far i am enjoying the beginning areas the problem im having is how the enemy can spam battleships carriers and anything else they want with only one city nonstop which forces only one strategy to rush the enemy no tactics just go before they can spam there forces thats the only problem ive found with the game. now for the good stuff i enjoy the combat ships building mechanics and that you can design your fleets colors. no crashes or frame drops everything's been running smooth. the flagship mechanic is cool aswell having one unit that can go head to head with any ship except battleships and cruisers since they can out range outgun and kill your stuff but lets see how that changes with more upgrades later all in all good game i enjoy it just frustrated with the spamy ai
Game looks fun I like the look and everything but as I cannot play the game since it locks 100% of the time on the enemy invasion turn I cannot recommend it. I tried every fix I could find in steam and just googling it and nothing helped.
This game was very unappealing to me when I was just looking at the game images, but I decided to give the demo a try and it was great. There's a good bit of replayability and the progression system is a bit unique, but satisfying. The only problems I have is that the missions can take a very long time, and there's not enough ship variety.
I just got the game and was planning on playing for an hour. It has been eight.
