Dragon's Lair 2: Time Warp

This game ate so many arcade quarters, yes it kinda loses something not being in an arcade cabinet, it is sort of the original fmv dvd game, but it is such beautiful Disney style classic animation. If you can, buying a table top style arcade contoller definitely helps versus using a modern controller or keyboard.

Pas l un des meilleurs pour moi car le fait de ramasser des items pour voir la fin est vraiment mal agencer ... Cela coupe le rythme du jeu puis les situations sont vraiment desastreuses par rapport au premier : Le monde d Alice en passant par le paradis et beethoven c est vraiment n importe quoi .... la realisation est tres bonne mais cela reste quand meme un QTE qui se termine rapidement (moins de 10 minutes) A reserver aux inconditionnels de Dragon's Lair ou de Space Ace (ou Braindead 13!) Si buscas por internet un longplay de Dragons Lair 2, lo más probable es que encuentres vídeos de escasos diez minutos de duración. Piensas que el juego seguro no es la gran cosa y que hasta el más novato se lo puede terminar. Pero en cuanto tomas los controles... ¡ay amigo!, no es tan fácil avanzar como creías. Lo de ensayo y error está más presente que nunca. Esta secuela salió allá por el 91 en máquinas arcade, y con la entrada de la nueva década de la animación (quizás la última época buena de la misma antes de que casas como Pixar, DreamWorks o Sony Pictures Animation nos aburriesen con un corta y pega anual), el producto se masticaba muy superior a su original de los ochenta. Ya de por si, el proyecto de Dragons Lair fue arriesgado y avanzado a su tiempo. Don Bluth hizo un gran trabajo con el equipo de RDI Video Systems y el éxito fue indiscutible. Pero esta segunda entrega deja ver los fallos y leves errores de su antecesor si se comparan. Para empezar, "La máquina del tiempo" muestra de forma lineal una persecución para rescatar a la Princesa Daphne a lo largo de ocho etapas temáticas donde visitaremos lugares del mundo como Egipto, cuentos clásicos como Alicia en el País de las Maravillas, e incluso hechos históricos como Beethoven en plena ráfaga creativa (ojo al guiño de Elton John). Incluso iremos al mismísimo Jardín del Edén (la Eva con sobrepeso intentando ligar con Dirk, el héroe protagonista, es de lo más divertido que dieron los videojuegos en aquellos nostálgicos noventa). Esta variedad de entornos no existía en la primera entrega donde todo ocurría dentro de un mismo castillo pero de forma aleatoria, llegando a repetir algunas secuencias a la inversa para estirar un poco la experiencia. Además, en Dragons Lair 2 se nos reta a ir consiguiendo varios objetos que irán apareciendo durante el viaje por los distintos mundos, pudiendo hacernos con ellos pulsando la tecla correspondiente. Esto hace que sea muy rejugable. Como capricho personal, destacar que, al igual que ya sucedía con el título original, hay infinidad de animaciones de muerte cargadas de humor que casi invitan a que fallemos al pulsar las teclas para poder verlas todas y admirar el gran trabajo que realizaron los animadores. El único aspecto negativo que creo destacaría de esta versión disponible en Steam, es que habiendo jugado a la versión en DVD de Dragons Lair 2 hace unos años (entre 2006 y 2007), se notan ciertos problemas de detección y coordinación de las teclas con el tiempo real del juego. Resulta confuso pulsar, por ejemplo, la tecla "arriba" cuando sabes de sobra que es la que toca tanto en el momento como en la situación de la escena, pero que el juego te diga que lo has hecho mal. Creo que en la ya mencionada versión en DVD el margen de error era más flexible, o al menos no era tan puñetero como este. Salvo ese detalle, recomiendo a todos los valientes subirse a la máquina del tiempo y explorar lo que una vez fue un gran referente de las películas interactivas. No hace falta haber jugado al primero para disfrutar este.

I loved this game so much! It was hard yes, but despite all the deaths this game is more than worth it. Though yeah, the price is a bit much for this and the other games in the pack so it might be best to wait for a sale, but the game itself is super fun, especially after the first playthrough when I got the hang of the stages. There are a couple glitches though, as the cool patch they gave for quality of life has, at least with the other games but I didn't see anything of note here, messed with the timings and broke some gameplay, and I think broke some death animations as I have noticed for at least the other games, but I don't remember any mismatching here, but even so the watch game option is available so you can see all the animations regardless of glitches. It took me 4 runs through the game, 2 technically with the other 2 being runs through the first 6 levels to get the double negative achievement, but they were still a fun experience, even if I needed to take breaks between stages as in this game they are super long. At least the lives counter is almost worthless in this game as there is no points system and the only thing it does is make it so you have to reclaim treasures again if you hadn't beaten the stage yet. But yeah, if you get this game, it is super fun, and I highly recommend you play without the move guide, as the move guide just makes you focus on that instead of seeing the gorgeous visuals which tell you how to react in their own special way. Though this is in my opinion the most difficult of the 3 games, but all the game asks of you is to beat it, so just relax, remember the patterns, and enjoy the show.
