One of the best stories I've experienced. Anyone who likes turned based combat, games with a lot of content, great music, and a chill time, should really give this one a try.

Honestly? Gameplay and the upgrade tree are kinda boring. As a JRPG itself its solid, but compared to all the other RPG/JRPGs coming out in the recent decade you can really feel how dated the gameplay is. You use level up points to buy/move up the upgrade tree and choose any of the 3 pathways to upgrade to, the problem is that it doesn't feel that effective besides some moves you unlock which is a given and stat boosts. The forge and upgrading/building weapons feels way more important due to how it affects the attack/defense/mag. The duo moves you use with characters feel alright, feels like there is a lack of impact/power to them for a special move that you get once in a while when the time is right. The best thing about this game is the past/pixelated style dungeons since those usually feel way more unique than the 3d enviroments. And the character personalities themselves. I would only play this if your a dragon quest fan otherwise stay away, I feel mostly neutral about this (with a slight edge toward being positive)
