Dr Greenstuff is a simulation and management game developed by Black Diskette and published by Black Diskette Studio. It puts players in the shoes of an unconventional scientist whose business revolves around cultivating illegal plants, experimenting with chemical recipes, and building a profitable underground operation. Instead of emphasizing a traditional narrative, the game focuses on giving players complete control over how they establish, organize, and expand their laboratory. The result is a sandbox experience built around experimentation, efficiency, and steady progression through increasingly sophisticated production systems. At the heart of the game is a surprisingly detailed simulation loop. Every stage of the business requires direct participation, from preparing growing areas and caring for crops to harvesting ingredients, refining products, and discovering new manufacturing methods. Rather than automating every task, Dr Greenstuff encourages players to interact with equipment and workstations individually, making each successful production cycle feel earned. As more machinery and recipes become available, players gradually transform a modest workspace into a highly productive laboratory capable of generating substantial profits. Customization is another area where the game performs well. Players have considerable freedom to arrange furniture, laboratory equipment, storage units, and decorative items throughout their apartment and workspace. This flexibility allows each facility to reflect the player's preferred workflow instead of forcing a predefined layout. The addition of multiple plant varieties, fertilizer production, laboratory upgrades, and recipe experimentation creates a satisfying sense of progression, rewarding careful planning and efficient organization as operations continue to expand. Progression is supported by a variety of missions and character interactions that introduce new mechanics without taking away the game's open-ended nature. Completing objectives unlocks additional equipment, crafting opportunities, and production possibilities while encouraging players to experiment with different combinations of ingredients. The process of discovering recipes instead of simply unlocking everything through a menu gives the gameplay an enjoyable layer of experimentation that keeps advancement feeling rewarding throughout much of the experience. Although the visual presentation is relatively simple, it effectively supports the game's simulation-focused design. The environments are functional, equipment is easy to identify, and the interface generally provides the information needed to manage complex production chains. While players should not expect cutting-edge graphics or elaborate visual effects, the straightforward presentation helps keep attention focused on the management mechanics rather than unnecessary visual distractions. The game's greatest challenge is its learning curve. Dr Greenstuff expects players to understand numerous interconnected systems, and newcomers may initially feel overwhelmed by the amount of experimentation required. There is limited hand-holding, making observation, trial and error, and careful planning essential parts of the experience. Those who enjoy deep simulation titles will likely appreciate this approach, while players seeking a faster or more accessible experience may find the early hours somewhat demanding. As an independent project, some rough edges remain apparent. Animations, interface elements, and overall polish occasionally reveal the limitations of a smaller development team. Certain mechanics could benefit from additional refinement, and some aspects of the user experience feel less streamlined than those found in larger simulation games. However, these shortcomings rarely overshadow the depth of the core gameplay, which consistently rewards players who invest time in mastering its systems. What ultimately makes Dr Greenstuff stand out is its commitment to detailed production management and player freedom. The combination of farming, crafting, laboratory management, business expansion, and recipe experimentation creates a gameplay loop that remains engaging over long sessions. Rather than relying on action or scripted storytelling, the game succeeds by encouraging players to optimize every aspect of their growing enterprise and continuously improve their operations through smarter planning and experimentation. French breaking bad
